Is this acceptable behaviour from a king? In the professional space, it is often expected that people behave very formal, and I personally always 'read the room' when I decide how much or how little enthusiasm it is allowed to show. 1️⃣ It is easy to get it wrong: I was in a board meeting once, giving a technical presentation about a topic I am an expert in, and it was a late afternoon after lunch. To keep people awake, and make sure they understood how serious this was, I 'turned up the enthusiasm-button' a little bit. The feedback I got afterwards was that it was too much. I was not taken serious. 2️⃣ A few months later, I gave a similar but now extended and quite heavy presentation to a board of directors and management team, and decided to do the exact same thing. This was a meeting after work hours, and a heavy technical and political topic for non-geoscientists. The feedback I got was overwhelmingly positive: they were so switched on, the insights provided were exactly what they needed, and the company has later executed on the recommendations given. My take on the informal behavior by the king in this video: It made me smile, and I thought "Good for you!". Yes, perhaps it is informal behavior, but isn't it nice to see that the king is human? Doesn't it build trust for you? If not, then it is probably because of cultural differences, and worth taking into consideration. But to me his behavior builds trust: he is "a little more human, and a little less machine". And as Nicolai Tangen put it in his talk at ONS two years ago: "The more they know you, the more they trust you" What do you think?
Just show me a place on earth where the King, the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs... casually are all just waiting in line to give these Danish handball champions a hug... Video: Magnus Stig Christensen, TV2 Sport #onlyindenmark #gold #tillykke #Paris2024

ICYMT....yesterday, at the Olympics, there was a significant controversy in Women's Boxing. Boxing at its best is a pure, but brutal sport. As someone who has been involved in boxing for many years, it strikes me that not solving the issue of how gender is defined has the potential to destroy the sport. This is a sport not without controversy. In general, the IOC delegates rules around competition to sport based associations. In boxing, at these games, the association governing the sport has been suspended, so the IOC itself is making the rules. In many countries, to box as a female, you must not have gone through male puberty or as USA Boxing requires, you must have completed gender reassignment surgery and submit 2 years of quarterly testosterone testing that demonstrates less than a certain level of testosterone. There are some other nuances as well. The IOC chose not to require any of this criteria for boxing. Interestingly, the organization slated to oversee boxing in future Olympics (assuming boxing continues as a sport) has stated that they will follow the IOC's lead. In professional boxing you choose to accept a fight or not based on an identified opponent. In the amateur ranks, in general, opponents are assigned and your choice is to fight or not. There is another, perhaps more complicated issue surrounding those who are born female and are competing as female while transitioning to male. This challenge also needs to be addressed. Athletes won't compete in the Olympics if they don't feel that they will have a fair fight.

I help Afropreneurs from the diaspora, grow their customer base through Strategic Partnerships & Community Economics.
European clubs are strategically securing direct access to young talents on the Continent. When they reach maturity age, they can bring them to Europe at a minimal cost. If a player succeeds, their value can skyrocket. Talent = Entertainment = Eyeballs = $$$ They can then be transferred to other clubs for tens of millions of dollars, after being recruted and trained for a fraction of that price. Africa's "Athletic potential" has been hidden and overlooked due to lack of infrastrucure and Media coverage. But things are changing: the promising financial prospects are attracting more international investors. I expect more African Athletes (current & retired) to build investment portfolios in these 2 strategic areas of the sports industry. 👉🏾 Ownership. #africa #africandiaspora #ownership #equity #sports #sportsbusiness #sportsbiz #sportsmarketing #sportsmedia #sportsmanagement #infrastructuredevelopment #infrastructureinvestment #entrepreneurship #business

What an eventful sporting week - The Power of a 'Never Say No' Attitude 🚀 In the world of sports, Afganistan's Cricket and Slovenia's EuroCup Journey is definitely a tale of triumph! 🏏 Afghanistan's Cricket Team - Against all odds, Afghanistan reached the semi-finals of the World Cup Cricket, showing the world that with dedication and hard work, any dream can be turned into a reality. ⚽ Slovenia's EuroCup Journey - Slovenia's national team reached the knockout stages of the EuroCup, defying expectations and proving that size and history do not determine success. These achievements are not just victories on the field but lessons in life. They remind us that: 1. Resilience is Key: No matter how tough the journey, resilience can lead us to our goals. 2. Believe in Yourself: Confidence in our abilities can help us overcome any obstacle. 3. Last but not the least, DREAM BIG!
