In 2013, Finland increased the maximum allowed gross vehicle weight to 76 t, which enabled the operation of 8- and 9-axle articulated HGVs on Finnish main roads. The increased allowed GVW has many potential benefits, from fewer CO2 emissions to decreased millage per truck. Heikki Liimatainen, Markus Pöllänen, and Lasse Nykänen analyzed the impact of the increased GVW in a 2020 article titled "Impacts of increasing maximum truck weight: case Finland." Small changes lead to big impact. The journey to a more sustainable future begins with every choice we make today. By embracing electric deliveries, DFDS and Volvo Cars are proving that meaningful change doesn't have to be monumental – it just needs to be consistent. By running fully electric, custom-made deliveries of around 4,800 cars every year, we’re cutting over 31,000 kg of CO2e emissions annually, demonstrating what’s possible when innovation meets determination. Let’s drive forward with purpose, turning ambition into action, and small steps into lasting impact. #ElectricTrucks #ElectricVehicles #Sustainability #Decarbonisation #Innovation #DFDS #VolvoTrucks #VolvoCars #WorldOfVolvo #FutureProofLogistics

Did you know that we currently operate a fleet of 280+ vehicles? Our fleet comprises well-maintained vehicles equipped for almost every eventuality. We recognise that over 85% of our #CarbonFootprint concerns our transport-related fuel use. In 2023, we reviewed our fleet management and plans for future fleet, e.g. electric vehicle uptake, and decided to aim for a target of 40% ULEV/ZEV vehicles in the fleet by 2028. We've also briefed and encouraged the car-sharing scheme on a broader scale across our national projects. We will soon launch our 2024 #CarbonReductionPlan, which outlines our targets and implementation plans to reduce our carbon emissions to Net Zero by 2050. #netzero2050

Any commitment to the future of our environment is worth celebrating. Especially when it is a family owned, Australian transport company, who is wholeheartedly embracing and investing in electromobility. Apart from walking the talk when it comes to meeting company sustainability goals, what are the other benefits of making the transition to an EV? 💡 Volvo EV technology is also a powerful tool for reducing CO2 emissions already here and now. 💡 Zero tail pipe exhaust emissions and lower noise open up possibilities to operate in places where regular trucks can’t. 💡 The reduced noise levels allows for operating during off-peak hours and more hours of the day. 💡 The noise and vibration levels in the cab are much lower, both for the driver and service techs working outside and around the truck. 💡 The electric motor offers a very smooth and seamless power delivery, making it ideal for stop start urban transport. This story is just the beginning for our customer Roadmaster. We'll be following their new FL electric on its first routes and exploring the real life benefits for their business, their team and their sustainability goals. Stay tuned... #VCVau #Electromobility #VolvoElectricTrucks #BestCustomers Volvo Trucks Australia Martin Merrick Greg Sargeant Geoff Robertson Martin Lambert Tom Chapman Corbin Luther Josh Murray Lauren Pulitano

🌍🚗 Accelerating Zero-Emission Vehicle Adoption in Fleets: Key to Decarbonizing Road Transport 🚗🌍 Excited to share insights from the latest briefing by the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) for the Zero Emission Vehicles Transition Council (ZEVTC). Here's what you need to know: Who: Prepared by ICCT for ZEVTC, with authors Irem Kok, Marie Rajon Bernard, Yihao Xie, and Tim Dallmann. ZEVTC represents ministers from countries covering over 50% of the global car market. What: The briefing discusses the critical role of transitioning vehicle fleets to zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs). It highlights technology readiness, infrastructure needs, policy approaches, and emerging business models to accelerate this transition. Where: Focuses on global efforts, particularly in ZEVTC member countries, which are responsible for half of new vehicle sales worldwide. Examples from Europe, Chile, Colombia, and California are highlighted. Why: Fleet vehicles, while only a quarter of those on the road, account for nearly two-thirds of road transport emissions. Accelerating the adoption of ZEVs in fleets can: - Significantly reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. - Help achieve Paris Agreement goals. - Save approximately 47.5 billion tonnes of CO2 emissions from 2020 to 2050. - Drive down costs, making ZEVs competitive with internal combustion engines. Key Takeaways: - Heavy-duty ZEVs can provide half the emissions reduction needed to align with Paris Agreement goals. - ZEVs are reaching technology readiness and commercial viability, with many achieving total cost of ownership parity by 2030. - Effective policies and innovative business models are crucial for a faster transition and infrastructure deployment. The future of sustainable transportation is here, and fleets are leading the charge! 🚀🔋 Let's continue to support and accelerate this critical transition for a cleaner, greener world. 🌱🌐 https://lnkd.in/gq-Y9AjZ #Sustainability #ZeroEmissionVehicles #ZEV #CleanTransportation #Decarbonization #ClimateAction #Innovation #FutureOfTransport

Charging into a greener future, Scania's launch of Erinion marks a significant leap towards sustainable transportation. Erinion's ambitious target to install 40,000 EV chargepoints by 2030 showcases a proactive approach to environmental stewardship. 🌱⚡️🚛 This strategic expansion, starting in key European markets, underlines the Swedish automaker's commitment to driving the shift to zero-emission fleets. Customers are offered a streamlined solution where Erinion takes on the complexity of operating large-scale EV charging infrastructure. This is not just about easing the transition but also about empowering businesses to focus on their own core activities, with peace of mind regarding their energy needs. Scania's alignment with the broader European goals for decarbonising road transport is both commendable and critical as we witness growing pressure to combat climate change. It echoes the UK's concerted efforts, like Scotland's Zero Emission Truck Taskforce, to revolutionise supply chains and the heavy goods transport sector through electrification. As we celebrate these strides toward a more eco-friendly industry, it's essential to ponder: How can we further accelerate the adoption of EVs across all transportation sectors? With 230,000 electric trucks expected on European roads by 2030, what steps are you taking to prepare for the electric shift? #Sustainability #Innovation #ElectricVehicles
