We recently made the most of the final days of summer with our annual summer party. This year’s celebration was extra special, as we gathered in our beautiful new office space in the heart of Copenhagen. From a refreshing sailing trip along the coast to groovy tunes and great conversations, the day was a perfect blend of relaxation and team bonding. It’s moments like these that remind us of the importance of connection and camaraderie in our team. Grateful for the energy and enthusiasm each of our colleagues brings to the table—both in the office and on the dance floor! How do you ensure successful procurement and contract management? At Emendo, we believe that early involvement of procurement in projects is crucial. It ensures better cost control, risk mitigation, and efficiency, leading to smoother project execution and better budget management. Recently, we've expanded our Project Services team with Michael Talchow, who is joining with more than 25 years of procurement experience. Our service offerings now include procurement and contract management services such as developing procurement strategies, assessing relevant markets, evaluating and negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring that the best possible contracts are finalized and implemented. In which ways can you make a positive impact in your local community? On their recent trip to the Faroe Islands, our Project Consulting team joined forces with GreenGate Incoming and Rudda Føroyar to clean up Kaldbaksbotn. Following our initiative of cleaning the area of more than 500 kg garbage, the local news channel reached out to Rudda Føroyar for an interview, who took this opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a cleaner environment. Although this was the first time Rudda Føroyar had done this initiative with volunteering tourists, they had high hopes that we had created enough awareness and inspired other companies, both local and foreign, to do the same. It was amazing to experience the impact a little bit of voluntary work can have on a small society like the Faroese Islands. In addition to giving back to the Faroese community, this was a unique way of experiencing the breathtaking scenery of the area. How can collaborative knowledge-sharing support sustainability efforts? Recently, our Project Consulting team visited the Faroe Islands to gain insights and inspiration from their sustainability efforts while sharing our knowledge on project management. During our visit, we were invited to witness the sustainability efforts of companies dedicated to incorporating sustainable practices into their operations. When visiting Landsverk, who is working with technical building projects and responsible for the islands’ many tunnels, they showcased their proactive approach to sustainability. The local construction firm, ArtiCon, impressed us with their commitment to embracing electric machinery over fuel-driven alternatives, while Elfelagið SEV - Electrical company shared their ambitious goal of reaching self-sustainability in energy production by 2030. These companies are leading the way in sustainable project management on the Faroe Islands with an inspiring dedication to environmental integrity while maintaining efficiency. Visiting these companies made us reflect on how we can further promote sustainability in our projects. How do you identify opportunities for improvement? At Emendo, we strive to remain at the forefront of our field by providing ongoing training, resources, and opportunities for our consultants. Most recently, we held a training session in Process Mapping and Waste Identification run by our Improvement team. Here, our consultants gained valuable insights into mapping processes, different mapping techniques, waste reduction techniques, and digital optimization opportunities. The training consisted of several practical exercises from mapping basic everyday areas, such as making coffee, to more complex processes. This allowed the consultants to reflect on incorporating mapping processes in their daily work. #workshop #processoptimization #wastereduction
