U.S. weekly rail traffic was 493,138 carloads & intermodal units, up 3.4 % compared with the same week last year. Total carloads for the week ending June 15 were 222,759 carloads, down 2.5%, and weekly intermodal volume was 270,379 containers & trailers, up 8.9% compared to 2023.

@AAR_FreightRail reported U.S. rail traffic for the week ending November 16, 2024. Weekly rail traffic at 516,886 carloads and intermodal units - up 3.2% from 2023. Of that, 223,659 carloads, down 5.6% and 293,227 containers & trailers, up 11.1% compared to 2023.#rail #intermodal

Logistics News:  Rail carloads, at 198,500, were down 4.6% annually, and intermodal containers and trailers, at 222,910 units, posted a 6.6% annual increase.

The data outlined in yesterdays JOC article mirror what we are seeing internally at 1st Choice Freight. Dwell times for containers destined to inland locations have increased substantially.
