Engineer's curious at any age! Why do I say this, what proof do I have? 🤔 Most of us aren't blessed with the golden tongue, and I am one of them.   So, as a proactive measure I volunteered at Stannah to be part of the factory tour rotation at the Stairlift factory in Andover.   This really did help me with my communication skills by talking to groups between 2-12 people, but it was one particular group of individuals that I learnt the lesson above.   Fate would have it, but one day I was asked to take a group of retired IMechE members around (since I was a member at the time).   They turned up (about 10 ish in the group) and aged from 60-80 ish I believe.   The tour went well, they asked questions and I answered them all clearly and in my best professional manner 😁 .   But it was when we returned to reception I turned to count the group and realised that one member was missing, none could recall when and where he left the group. 😥   This started a 30 mins hunt for the chap, but we couldn't find him.   On returning to reception I spotted the sample Stairlift one its way down (it cover all 3 floors at Stannah's HQ in Andover).   There sat in that lift was the one individual I was searching for….he had decided to 'test' the stairlift and rode it all the way to the top and back again….. 😅   So, at any age Engineers never loose their curiosity! 𝗦𝗶𝘅 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀—𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗱! When we started the Somik Industries project, an auto parts manufacturing facility serving high-end clients like Audi and Range Rover, the pressure was on. The site spanned 3 acres, and the timeline was tight. Delivering a fully operational facility, from design to execution, in just half a year? I remember sitting down and thinking, How are we going to make this happen? After a lot of discussions and brainstorming with the team, we had a strategic plan. Pre-engineered steel components were our solution—made offsite and delivered ready to be assembled. We kept the design simple and modular to cut down on time and complexity. But what really made it work? Our talented team. Their commitment and problem-solving mindset kept everything on track. While one team worked on the foundations of a block, another was busy assembling steel structures for another block. Everyone stayed in sync, and no time was wasted. By the end of those six months, we handed over a fully functional facility—on time, ready to go.
