This right here: “what can happen when the focus is on what could be versus the barriers that limit us to what is.” That shift in focus and perspective is what gives hope that we can have government that works for the people. Not as a bandaid or as a crutch, but acheiving best possible outcomes! The kinks and challenges don’t have to prevent or limit progress, they’re part of the success. #strategicplanning #strategy #bestpractices #problemsolving #embracechange #perfectionnotrequired

I am excited to announce that I have been promoted to Assistant Director-Strategic Planning for the Governor’s Office of Strategic Planning and Budgeting. This was an unexpected promotion that came just as I am wrapping up my first strategic planning season with the state. I am truly honored that Director Brown invited me to join the AD team. When I was hired as the Statewide Strategic Planner, I was tasked with helping the Governor realize her vision of “An Arizona for Everyone” through a collective impact approach to strategic planning ( something known in the nonprofit world but not common in government). I was not sure how quickly we’d be able to transition given the notorious nature of bureaucracy and change but over the last 9 months amazing progress had been made. I have had the privilege of working with 34 cabinet agencies and dozens of Governor’s office advisors to collaboratively develop strategic plans that are impact-focused, SMART, and aligned to the priorities of the state. There’s still work to do to fully implement this change in approach and work out some kinks but I am so proud of what everyone has accomplished! It is truly inspiring to see what can happen when the focus is on what could be versus the barriers that limit us to what is. I am grateful for the faith and support of my colleagues and can’t wait to start sharing (and demonstrating through data) all the positive outcomes being achieved across the state in the coming years.
