AAIE EQUITY CONVERSATION Repairing Dignity and Restoring Community in the Wake of Harm Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 09:00 AM EST An equity conversation with Jennifer Beckwith (Founding Director, American United School of Kuwait) and Jason Craige Harris (Managing Partner, Perception Institute) AAIE’s Equity Conversations, structured similarly to listening circles, emphasize deep listening, open sharing, and respectful communication. Facilitated by Jennifer Beckwith and Jason Craige Harris, from Pollyanna, these conversations provide a safe and inclusive space for participants to express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences while others listen without judgment. AAIE, Jennifer Beckwith, and Pollyanna seek to create a space for empathy, active listening, and authentic connection. We encourage participants to move beyond surface-level conversations and engage in deep, meaningful discussions that can lead to personal growth, improved relationships, and positive community dynamics. All qualified organizations seeking to become adult day services providers, as well as existing adult day services providers seeking to expand their services, are eligible to apply for the available grant funds, which are being offered by the Ohio Office of Budget and Management (OBM) at the direction of ODA. Successful applicants will be eligible to spend their funding in multiple areas. New adult day services providers or those re-entering the market can use these funds for equipment, supplies, start-up fees, or infrastructure modifications required for initial operations. Existing adult day services providers can use these funds to enhance service delivery by adding new benefits not previously offered. They can also use the funds to support long-term sustainment in the industry. This could include equipment or facility upgrades to accommodate a larger capacity served, as well as technology implementation and other efficiency efforts. Providers can also use funds to recruit and retain a qualified workforce – including through means such as offering current staff a retention bonus, offering new staff a hiring bonus, hiring new direct care workers, and recruiting new direct care workers. Interested organizations can apply through the OBM website. Successful applicants will be eligible for technical assistance support, provided by LeadingAge Ohio in collaboration with ODA. The Renewal Initiative launches global mission to restore dignity, hope in despair-ravaged places Press Release: The Renewal Initiative Feb. 7, 2024 WASHINGTON – Organizers are pleased to announce the launch of The Renewal Initiative (TRI), a dynamic nonprofit organization committed to restoring dignity and hope where it has been stolen or lost. TRI aims to rejuvenate lives and communities grappling with adversity via compassion, advocacy, relief efforts and education. “There’s no shortage of awful things happening in our world,” said Andrew Moroz, founder of TRI. “Our goal is to step into challenging circumstances, to connect people and resources to uplift and empower the vulnerable.” TRI has focused its recent attention on aid distribution to some of the most war-ravaged regions of Ukraine since the 2022 full-scale invasion by Russia. Efforts include food distribution to internally displaced people, the delivery of emergency power generators to local communities and emergency medical supplies to the frontlines of the war. In 2024, TRI will host “Renewal Retreats” in Ukraine, bringing volunteer US-based mental health professionals and organizations to offer mental health services to frontline relief workers exhausted from serving amidst the trauma of war. Founded on the belief that every individual and community deserves the opportunity for renewal, TRI promises a compassionate, collaborative and courageous approach to restoration. Understanding the diverse needs of those it serves, TRI will leverage powerful partnerships to drive transformative and mutual change while confronting adversity. TRI's strategic approach involves three key pillars: Advocacy — amplify the stories and needs of vulnerable people to build support for those in despair. Relief— obtain and deliver aid that addresses the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of those in distress. Education — train individuals and organizations to aid vulnerable communities and equip individuals within those communities to effectively care for themselves and others. The Renewal Initiative invites individuals, businesses, organizations and communities to join its journey to foster meaningful renewal where it is needed most.
