Sometimes you need to stretch your business to benefit your staff. My now former (licensed) receptionist had been asking about advancing into a Service Broker role.
As we are getting into busy season I hired a part-timer to do some reception/light clerical work so the full timer receptionist could start learning service broker stuff.
That was 82 days ago. Today my “part-time” receptionist is starting full time work, including getting her license, and my now former receptionist is diving into full time service broker work.
Do I need another service broker? Not really. Can I afford to stretch a bit and see what happens? Absolutely.
Worst case scenario I’m out 40k plus benefits. Best case scenario I’ve got a new receptionist who wants to grow and my old receptionist who wanted to grow is going to help the company grow.
I will update on how this worked out for everyone at the end of the year!
