Like myself, though before me, Dr. John McDougall, MD was a contemporary of Nathan Pritikin. Both were pioneer legends in the science of preventing heart disease with nutrition. Dr. McDougall and I may not have agreed on every detail of nutrition and medical management. But we were directionally aligned and I have the highest respect for his achievements, especially the immense numbers of people his message helped to find freedom from disease. That is undeniable. In honor of Dr. McDougall’s passing, I again share my interview (which Jeff Novick, MS, RD helped make happen) of his daughter, Heather, and McDougall Program Medical Director Dr. Anthony Lim - may you both carry the large torch John lit with the continued honor and grace you shared with me in our time together here: https://lnkd.in/g96a9rMY May God rest Dr. John’s soul. Medical Cannabis Science and Therapeutics c/o ‘24 | Florida Medical Cannabis Expert Dedicated to Safe, Effective, and Affordable Medicine Expansion
Aphids or STRESS?! If you recall a previous post of mine, I mentioned Farnesene, a sesquiterpene with the same mass as Caryophyllene, is said to be the main alarm pheromone of many types of aphids. As the proclaimed “COA guy”, I’ve noticed strange patterns in Farnesene levels through my 4 years as a FL MMJ patient: Some dispensaries dispense medicine with high concentrations of this terpene presented on COAs for MOST of their medicine, some dispensaries request labs that dont test for Farnesene at all! Some dispensaries have revised COAs after releasing products to drastically reduce the Farnesene %, and others aren’t aware until patients like me bring it to their attention. This past year was an undoubtably hot summer here in FL… with this, is the increasing Farnesene %’s a result of stress? Let’s talk about giving patients MORE reasons to trust COA’s!

Physician Scientist | Senior Paediatrician and Head of Paediatrics and Child Health Research Group at MLW | Consultant | Coach
Thrilled to see the work of Victoria Mukhula, Dr Philliness Prisca Harawa, MBBS, MPhil and others finally come to fruition - after multiple redrafts, revisions, and redos - and several times when we *almost* walked away. Thanks for your patience and perseverance - I know you may not have felt this every day, but you pulled it together over enough days so that we were able to see this over the finish line. More importantly, your work provides a useful evaluation of clinical practice in low resource settings that raises the question whether an algorithmic approach to care based on risk factors rather than clinician judgement may be a better use of limited resources. Proud of you! https://lnkd.in/diG8_xh4
