Who's ready for a fun challenge? Get into a plank and follow me as we spend 10 minutes of quality time together doing various variations 🤙 Do what you can, you can stick to normal plank and side planks and you can even put your knees on the ground to make it easier 😃 You will work on all of your core muscles, including your obliques and six pack abs. 📜 Tip to feel you obliques muscles When in a side plank, maintain the hips at the appropriate height and as you exhale, gently pull the elbow on the ground towards your feet. Don't let your hips sag down as you do this. 📜 Tip to feel more abs When planking, do the same trick as about but with both elbows at the same time. Simultaneously, make sure that your pelvis is facing your lower ribs, keeping a good stack. Another way to think about this is to pretend you are weary a nice belt with a beautiful belt buckle. Tuck your pelvis forward so that the belt buckle is facing straight down at the ground. If you arch you back and let go of your abs, your pelvis will tuck down too much and the belt buckle will face towards your toes too much. Side to side motion in freestyle is devasting for so many reasons. If the body is moving side to side, that’s going to create a lot more resistance. If the shoulders are moving side to side, it’s going to make it a whole lot harder to effectively create propulsion. Everything is worse. The simplest place to start to get change? The head. Help swimmers learn to keep the head still, and a LOT of problems are going to resolve themselves. A REALLY simple strategy it put on paddle on their head and get them to keep in place. Don’t even worry about breathing. Get it still and then go from there.
