Asia's inaugural 60-person service operation vessel, crafted by ZPMC, is presently undergoing sea trials. The vessel is equipped with the latest domestically developed #retractable #gangway #featuring heave #compensation functionality, also a first in China.  This gangway features active compensation capabilities, including an advanced #algorithm for its heave compensation systems that ensures real-time responsiveness to the motion of the gangway. Designed to neutralize vessel movements in waves up to 3.5 meters, it ensures a stable connection for the gangway, thereby guaranteeing the safe transfer of personnel and materials to offshore wind turbines. This innovation stands in stark contrast to traditional methods of accessing wind power platforms, significantly reducing the workload and challenges faced by operators. It creates a "safe passage" for offshore maintenance activities, ensuring true safety in transit. Looking forward, ZPMC's research and development team is focused on refining and enhancing the current design. Their aim is to achieve lighter, standardized, modular, and serialized improvements for wave compensation gangway products, further pushing the boundaries of maritime and offshore engineering solutions.

The OSV sector stands at a critical crossroads, with various factors driving the industry towards heightened fuel efficiency, says Opsealog business director Damien Bertin. As well as offshore wind needs, major oil-producing nations in the Middle East and other regions are planning to ramp up production, driving up demand for offshore support vessels. Amid the escalating demand, the industry faces a shortage of OSVs, many of which were scrapped or withdrawn from the market during the Covid era. This scarcity has led to substantial hikes in day rates, compounded by elevated fuel prices, posing challenges for both shipowners and charterers, with far-reaching implications. Zhao Shuheng, Director of Sungrow FPV System Solutions Center, delivered a keynote speech on "Key Technologies of Offshore FPV system" at the meeting, and expressed his insights on the advantages of Sungrow FPV's offshore technology and the integrated development of offshore FPV. He said that offshore FPV technology is becoming more mature and ushering in more development opportunities. Offshore FPV are showing a new trend of integrated development.
