Dunkirk’s icon in the dock! We’re happy to welcome Communauté urbaine de Dunkerque's elegant Duchess Anne at our Dunkirk yard for a 5-month docking. This graceful lady is a symbol of the city and the largest museum sailing ship in France. During her docking, our team will be busy with the removal of 300 tons of concrete ballast, steelworks and a full sandblasting and repainting. This comprehensive renovation program is scheduled for completion in time for Tall Ships Race 2025, which will take place in Dunkirk next summer. #Damen #Shiprepair #Dunkirk #DuchesseAnne
Hmmm, Interesting to see the final cost. Gorch Fock repairs went to 135M Euro 🙈 and thats before the court costs for the corruption scandal , and was it worth it?? And after removal and refilling of the permanent ballast please make a better calculation than was applied to the Swedish kings warship VASA, ( see my previous post ) as it would be quite embarrassing for Damen ;)
Great
Nice ship great project for Damen
Good time to make a 3D scan of the hull.
What a beauty! 😍
Best of luck!
Leuk dit te zien. Want ik lag met mijn eigen bootje in Duinkerken toen ze aan de overkant werd in gedokt
Leuke job zo'n oud schip.
Geweldig

2moThis tall ship is the former German Elsfleth/Weser based "Großherzogin Elisabeth", on which my grandfather started his seafaring carreer 94 years ago. She was part of a fleet of sail training vessels of the merchant navy based in Elsfleth, together with the former "Großherzog Friedrich August" (now "Staatsrad Lehmkuhl" still sailing under Norwegian flag), the "Prinzess Eitel Friedrich" (now " Dar Pomorza" based in Poland) and the "Deutschland" (today based in Bremerhaven). Elsfleth today still has the only active German sail training vessel for the merchant navy since 1981, again called "Großherzogin Elisabeth" (a three mast schooner built 1909 in Alblasserdam, NL).
