Power sharing. With a MJR charger installed on a Commissioning Service Operations Vessel (CSOV), a fully electric crew transfer vessel (CTV) operation becomes the solution of today. The CTV connects to the CSOV via a bell mouth which is placed on the fore deck of the CTV, the connection is made whists in push on operation to the CSOV boat landing. This enables charging to take place in a safe, highly automated manner, repowering the vessel in the space of a few hours. #Damen #Maritime #Charging

Whilst I applaud the direction you are heading in with this, im curious as to what effect it will have on operations..E.g Can the CSOV provide power to CTV whilst is carries out gangway operations to a turbine? Can the CTV push on SOV if its charging from the turbine? For this to be a long term viable option we must ensure that it can fit in seamlessly around existing operations, as the last thing we want is for Sustainable operations being seen as an inconvenience

Can't see the solution working very well in bad weather conditions, the main vessel will have to be on DP and charging is alway slow, unless it just provides a shore power solution which then makes it more feasible.

Only works in calm sea. In rough weather condition create huge delay. Even if cable apart highly dangerous for crew i guess

This solution has potential however charging takes time. During charging availability and efficiency of CSOV and CTV will be limited hence restricted manoeuvrability.

i am thinking about engineers. transforming mechanical into electrical most work, training, certification and say good bye to internal chamber engine 🤐

Great idea and engineering skills, but development to a workable practice is another huge step..cool though..

Water and electricity are always a fun time. My hair dryer has a warning label on it mentioning that.

Great initiative. A duel compatible charging point for CSOV and CTV would however reduce down time for both vessels. This would allow replenishment individually without rendering both vessels inoperable simultaneously. Cut out the middle man and maximise on vessel worktime.
