Southport
well said, please don't delete. I will confess my heart skipped a beat when I saw one of the kid's surname was Stancombe. Horrific, just horrific. Hates just fuels more hate; there's a quote somewhere about not learning from history...
take care of yourself mate. hideous news, especially when I heard southport and stancombe, identity - largely an accident of birth.
I was one of those commenting on how lovely Southport is on my first visit a year ago. Events of the last few days are difficult to comprehend for me as a not resident so can’t imagine how it feels so close to home. Thoughts with the whole community ❤️
Well said, Damian. We were away last week when it happened, but since coming back home to Southport, the place doesn't feel the same as it did before we left 2 weeks ago.
Damian, thanks for sharing and describing your thoughts and feelings so well. Pleased you are well but I too am struggling to process/ understand the incredibly sad events in Southport. Stay safe and you and all in Southport are in our thoughts and prayers.
Hi Damian, thanks for sharing. Your video is heartfelt and was thought provoking. Stay well. Arthur
As a native of Southport myself I have been truly shocked by the events of Monday and last night. Thank you Damian for articulating it so well

2moSo distressing to hear about these atrocities. I was in Liverpool Monday and over the weekend. What struck me was how vibrant and diverse the city and local area was. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the weather and going about their business - no tensions I could perceive. I think of Cat Stevens who has been inspirational over the years and seeks to heal divisions in communities based on misunderstandings and bigotry. Preaching peace in his words and songs. He converted to Islam and 99.9% of any faith followers are absolutely fine I’m sure, but how do you get to the 0.1%? Despite this, we don’t know all the facts and what is really worrying is the Russians interfering by spreading misinformation. As you say it doesn’t relate to religion or creed or colour- it is wickedness and probably mental health issues. What is causing that? Despair? Unfairness? Inequality? Heat? Social Media? Intense media bombardment? On-line hate preaching? I just find it hard to fathom.
