If your organisation hasn't yet pledged to offer internships via The 10,000 Interns Foundation - I'd like to ask why not? Access to opportunities and representation continues to be critical. Firms, companies and organisations have until Friday 20 October 2023 to sign up to offering internships via the 10,000 Black Interns programme. Having played a key role in launching the programme for one of my legal clients Taylor Wessing UK in 2022, I know first-hand how this programme has continued to attract, empower and also retain talented professionals in the early stages of their career. Over the last couple of years, I've also had the chance to get to know many of the organising and inspiring team at The 10,000 Interns Foundation including Julie Quist-Therson LLM Dip Trans. | Nana Campbell and Rebecca Achieng Ajulu-Bushell. Every, yes every, single conversation I have had with them and during the professional development sessions I ran for their team and their applicants has been inspiring. The 10,000 Interns Foundation is making a true impact. The 10,000 Interns Foundation collaborates with employers across so many different sectors and industries. The 10,000 Interns Foundation is helping organisations and managers to access talent from diverse backgrounds. The 10,000 Interns Foundation is helping individuals build their careers, skills and experience at vital points in their early careers. The The 10,000 Interns programmes, whether it's 10,000 Able Interns or 10,000 Black Interns are literally life-changing for individuals. I am so proud to see many of my Collective Insight client organisations participating in the programmes organised by the 10,000 Interns Foundation. Last week, the Advisory Council was back on campus. It was great to reconnect with so many students and meet many more for the first time. We can’t wait to be back in September. And, we’re all also very ready to connect with you virtually throughout the year. 4)    Internships – This is where you can jumpstart your career, but competition can be fierce. Why not leverage your Council connections to give yourself a competitive advantage? 5)    Jobs – We can help you hone your interview skills and build your professional network. Following up on our 2015 and 2019 alumni surveys, we are conducting another one to build on our knowledge of where they have been. Our numbers keep growing and there are now 385 BPhil, 111 BIS and 51 MPhil alumni. Previous surveys focused on the BPhil program, but we’re expanding it now to include all programs. Here are some highlights from the 2019 survey: - 53% response rate (154 submissions!)  - 80% of alumni had completed or were pursuing additional studies  - Fields of work with the highest representation were education, health services, government and legal  - Alumni wanted there to be a continuing focus on; internships, sense of community, small cohorts, community connections, learning how to address challenging problems, staff/faculty interaction, building self-awareness, and unconventional approaches to educational models. The current survey will be open until March 7, so tag another RC alumni in the comments that you think should fill it out, partly because we’ll be drawing for an RC swag pack for every 50 submissions we receive. Each year, we place thousands of high school students in job shadows and hundreds of students in internships to help them explore future career opportunities, network with local employers, and learn about training opportunities to reach their goals. A key next step for students is participation in one of Kirkwood’s Career Academy programs, which are collections of courses in specific career areas. Participation in these programs allows students to earn not only high school credit but also college credit that can be used toward a future degree, all at no cost to them or their families.
