Why I am so proud about what was achieved in Eternal Strands - Part 4 The reason behind everything showed in the previous parts ? Climbing giants of course ! This video showcases that our giants are physically animated, they are colliding with the environment, can be constrained by the ice. The animation flow starts from animation keyframe, then some custom pre IK animation node modify both the animation pose (to give more clearance to the player when around the shoulders, to tilt the hand to prevent the staff to collide too much with the head) and the IK target bones to retarget the grab/punch/weapon attack. The IK system allows to control independantly where the weapon attack lands, where to put the hand to grab the weapon, etc... #UnrealEngine #chaosphysics #InverseKinematics #GameDev

Playing around with Marvelous designer and chaos cloth to understand the workflow, ended up with a short sequence because the animation matching started working again Not completely unrelated to my personal project, ended up testing a bunch of stuff too like mixamo body and animation + metahuman head using the free 3dscanstore asset which looked really good! #UE5 #filmmaking #movie #conceptart

And one more thing to add about RS Toon Shader. The shader itself is blazingly fast to render. It doesn't require GI or other heavy rendering features. But in addition to this cartoon style usually requires reduced FPS number. Especially if you aiming for anime look. For example in my test I had 10 FPS, so I've rendered 2 sec of animation in 3,5 min! I think It can be a great solution for any indie studio or author who wants to tell more complex and long story but doesn't have huge budget for infinite renders on farm.
