When disaster strikes at 34,000 feet, every second counts. But if Airbus and others in the airline industry have their way, there may no longer be two pilots at the controls during an emergency. This is a very disingenuous post by someone who should know better. Did 3 pilots save AF447? Did 2 pilots save JT610 and ET302? We need to take the long hard look at the issue and not be dogmatic. Direct control of the aircraft's hard systems has long since ceased. Human factors are a major part of the challenges of accidents. While I am not yet ready to fully embrace Single Pilot operation - I advocate that we are already mostly there and we need to move to certification and qualification based on the significant progressions in Aircraft design.
