Some thoughts after a conversation with a potential Solar Construction client yesterday 💭👀 Me: “How long has the Project Manager role been open?” Hiring manager: “2 months” Me: “When was the anticipated start date?” Hiring manager: “Middle of December. We have a lot of upcoming solar installations.” Me: “Why hasn’t the role been filled?” Hiring manager: “I am the one trying to find the candidates and I don’t have time.” Many of my clients are hiring managers attempting to fill their own roles because they do not have an internal recruiting team or their recruiting team doesn’t have much capacity. This compromise in talent acquisition strategy is a common one: ✔ Hire people with less experience and train them (Hire for will, train for skill). ✔ Hire 2-3 more junior people in replacement of the single senior hire you could make, but can be hard to find/secure.
