Tonkin + Taylor launched our T+T Group Sustainability Report that looks at our 2023 progress and actions for 2024. T+T’s Executive Leader – Sustainability, Brett Ogilvie, says, “For me, our Sustainability Report reflects our commitment to transparency. While we are very proud to be leading the way in some areas, in other areas we still have work to do. But by being transparent about our goals and our progress towards them, we can hold ourselves to account, and be held to account for achieving ongoing progress”. This report references the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and focuses on our three key impacts: contributing to communities, taking care of nature in the built environment, and supporting the built environment workforce. It showcases the development of our sustainability services and what we are doing to “walk the talk” by embedding sustainability in T+T Group operations. From pioneering projects to collaborative initiatives, this report is also a testament to our commitment to sustainability in our project work. T+T’s Group Sustainability Programme Director Erica Olesson shares, “I’m excited to share some of the progress we made over the last year in our overall strategy and in each of the biggest areas we impact. I look forward to working with our internal team, clients, and partners, to continue building on this progress over the next year.” We want to thank our people, clients and partners for shaping this pivotal work, empowering us to make informed decisions and drive meaningful change. Together, we can redefine what's possible, to create and sustain a better world. Read the full report on our website: https://lnkd.in/gK4yS4hv

💡 Very interesting research findings by Nancy E. Landrum and James D. 💡 "The current problem is that in spite of an uptake of sustainability and ESG concerns by organizations, numerous studies confirm that we have made very little progress in environmental sustainability and companies primarily stick to their old strategies. In fact, a recent survey found that 59% of executives overstate or misrepresent an organization’s sustainability efforts, citing a lack of tools and measurement as a primary barrier to adopting earnest sustainability activities." "Our research identified five schemes that were better than others at advancing environmental sustainability: the circular economy, doughnut economics, ISO 14001, planetary boundaries, and The Natural Step. These five schemes do the most to slow the damage we are causing from human and industrial activities, but none of them will reverse the trend." "We challenge businesses to move beyond the weak incrementalist sustainability schemes and mindsets that currently exist and to forge a new path toward planetary sustainability. If we do not sustain the planet, we cannot sustain businesses."
