The Dulevo 850 suction street sweeper is designed for the heart of the city and environment, combining remarkable sweeping capability with excellent maneuverability. Thanks to its hourly output, Dulevo 850 EU6 is the ideal solution for city centres and all those areas that are difficult to reach with a traditional sweeper, such as: pavements, stations, cycling paths, pedestrian areas, car parks and gardens. Dulevo 850 is designed to work with ease, even on uneven surfaces. As with all other Dulevo International SpA sweepers particular thought has gone into cabin design in terms of comfort and accessibility, with ergonomic and intuitive controls. This sweeper combines excellent sweeping capabilities with reduced size and maneuverability. It is designed for easy unloading into bins or compactors, thus reducing working times and improving city cleanliness. Dulevo 850 complies with all legislative gaseous and sound emission requirements. The extremely silent engine and special sweeping system minimise environmental impact and render sound emissions practically imperceptible. 📲 01924 820876 📤 info@lincolncleaningtechnology.co.uk

It is quite recently that a decent, safe, comfortable and attractive walkable streets are not only desired, but also essential for a 'relational city' (Sonia Lavadinho). Good streets form the backbone of our urban living enviroment. ... Here an example of a bot more than a decade ago where everything went wrong ... no 'trottoir'on the right side, a street space designed for cars (driving and parking), an evidence of 'formula one' behavior, an a wide urban landscape that is planned around a car based mobility. ... The challenge is now to image how to improve these spaces. To start is would be good to get out some asphalt and turn it into space for walking and nature. That should be a beginning. ... Porto will have a new BRT line, the Metro Bus. The needed infrastructure, segregated red bus lanes and bus stops, are integrated within the existing Avenida da Boavista. However, it was never a green and pleasant walking avenue, it is now transformed into a real mobity space. Some pedestrian spaces are reduced, on some parts trees were removed because of the bus stops, and cycling lanes are totally absent. ... The project is just realised. Hopefully there will be room to improve this space in the near future. It just a matter of reducing car space and use it differently. ... the Future Design of Street - association ...

Another strong move in Copenhagen. 750 (approx. 75%) of on-street car parking in the “old town” (approx. 100 ha) are currently being removed and replaced with wider footpaths, improved crossings, better bike access, and more tree planting (no reduction in car parking spaces for business deliveries and tradespeople). Part of a larger public domain strategy involving a Citizen’s Assembly alongside community consultation with residents and businesses. Recommendations from this process included 75% reduction in car traffic, more green and non-commercial urban spaces, and better conditions for vulnerable road users. This strategy embodies a clear understanding of two things: successful vibrant urban centres must be pedestrian friendly above all else and this means less cars, both moving and parked. It explicitly understands what is so often in many jurisdictions the elephant (or tiger) in the room - the most significant opportunity in achieving better urban places is converting the very lazy use of public space as car parking to much higher value, people friendly uses. For more background and detail see Copenhagen Municipality's Urban Space and Traffic Plan 2022 at the link below (in Danish). A big thanks to the dedicated Anna Bucher Lassen of the City's Mobility Division for discussing this and many other topics on my last research visit to Copenhagen. Thank you also to Robert Joseph Martin of Beta Mobility for highlighting the challenges here and that even in a world-renowned cycling and pedestrian city removal of car space is politically charged and trade-offs can come at some public expense.

Paris 2.0 ++ [improving the pedestrian experience] Efforts to prioritize pedestrians and cyclists in urban design have significantly transformed Paris into a more livable, sustainable, and vibrant city, enhancing the overall experience for its residents and visitors. Here are some key initiatives and changes that have contributed to this transformation: *Pedestrianization of Streets: Paris has increasingly implemented pedestrian-only zones, particularly in the city center. *Expansion of Bike Infrastructure: The city has invested heavily in cycling infrastructure, creating dedicated bike lanes and increasing the number of bike-sharing programs, such as Vélib’. *15-Minute City Concept: The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, has championed the "15-minute city" concept, which aims to ensure that all essential services and amenities are within a 15-minute walk or bike ride for residents. *Green Spaces and Urban Parks: Paris has focused on creating and maintaining parks and green spaces to promote biodiversity and improve air quality. *Street Design and Public Spaces: Reimagined public spaces, including larger sidewalks, pedestrian-friendly street furniture, and increased seating areas, allow for longer stays outside.
