Professor of Practice at KGI - Developing innovative opportunities for pharmacists in healthcare and Pharma.
Being part of Legislative Day for the California Society of Health - System Pharmacists is not only a good thing...it's an essential activity. As a "constituent" of a State Senator and a State Assemblyperson, each pharmacist has the right to meet with each of these legislators to share their wisdom about patient care. Legislators, like most members of the public, really only know the public image of the pharmacists in the community setting, who is largely focused on dispensing. It is not fair to expect our legislators, or the public they serve, to understand all of the practice rolls (like hospital, managed care, ambulatory care, or even military medicine) unless we take the time to help them understand...and they want to hear from their constituency. Make it a point to meet with your legislator at the "home office"...they want to know what their constituents think and a one-to-one meeting will help them to gain the insights necessary to support the pharmacist as they care for their patients. Join us at Legislative Day on April 16, 2024 in Sacramento, or at least plan to meet us next year.
