In my experience helping people become Confident Speakers, there are 7 types of Public Speaking Fear. 1. Audience Fear - the audience is out to get me and will mock me 2. Anticipation Fear - worry about everything that COULD go wrong 3. Learned Fear - a bad experience in the past taught me fear 4. Credibility Fear - I don't know enough/am not good enough 5. Forgetful Fear - everything I know is going to vanish without trace 6. Performance Fear - I won't be as good as others, I won't be perfect 7. Dry Mouth & Speaking - What to Do ? DRY MOUTH when its time to Speak is a common physical response when it comes to fears and anxiety around public speaking . What to do ! Don't deny it Recognize dry mouth as a signal that your body is gearing up for action. Instead of resisting it, have a glass of water nearby and take a small sip before speaking. Here are some common public speaking fears. See which one applies to you: 1. Fear of forgetting what to say. 2. Fear of being evaluated or criticized. 3. Fear of stuttering or stumbling over words. 4. Fear of seeming scared or nervous. 5. Fear of not relating with the audience. 6. Fear of technical malfunctions. 7.
