Helping construction companies protect their workers → stop lecturing about rules and start teaching people how to believe in safety | I’ll show you how | Curious about my services? DM me
One of our workers who had a heart murmur collapsed one day on the job site. Before this, he was otherwise feeling good. He had a chronic condition and he had taken medication his entire life to help. Unfortunately for many years, he didn't eat well, drank a lot and he was overweight. Fast forward a few years, he changed his lifestyle, got in shape, and started feeling good. So he starts to think "I don't need this medication anymore." And he didn't tell anybody he wasn't taking it out on the job. Like I said he passed out one day and the medic got to him and figured out that he was also in a heart arrhythmia. And so we had a medical emergency there. We scooped him up. We called 911 which activated our STARS system but they were not available. So we coordinated with the local ground ambulance and did a patient transfer on the highway between the job site and the closest city. They did the transfer, we got back and we were only on the ground for 20 minutes and an entirely different person had an allergic reaction to their medication and ended up having a heart attack! And so there we were doing another medical emergency. Everything worked out for the workers but had we not had a plan... It could have been devastating. Have you ever been in a situation like this? ___________ If you want to build frontline leadership on your job site, send me a DM... I specialize in exactly that. #safety #leadership #health

Pneumoconiosis is a severe lung disease caused by the inhalation of various types of dust in specific occupations. The most common forms include coal workers' pneumoconiosis (resulting from coal dust), silicosis (from respirable crystalline silica), and asbestosis (from asbestos exposure). These diseases are typically diagnosed by evaluating an individual’s occupational history and their exposure to these harmful dusts. Pneumoconiosis is known as a "long latency" disease, meaning it often develops gradually over decades of exposure and can eventually lead to fatal outcomes. As a result, current and recent cases, as well as fatalities, often reflect the working conditions of the past. For more information on understanding and managing the risks associated with dust, the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) provides an excellent resource. Great to see the mainstream media picking up on this serious issue: https://lnkd.in/e7xkNC4D
