Happy to share our newest publication on Laser Speckle Contrast Imaging (LSCI) and bowel perfusion assessment. 💡 Our study aimed to calculate a cut-off value for quantified laser speckle perfusion units (LSPUs) in order to differentiate between ischemic and well-perfused tissue and to assess inter-observer reliability. We investigated this in a porcine intestinal ischemic loop model, with succes. ✅ Real-time quantification of LSPUs may be a feasible intraoperative method to assess tissue perfusion and a cut-off value could be determined with high sensitivity and specificity. Inter-observer variability was moderate to good, irrespective of prior experience with the technique. 📄 Full paper: https://lnkd.in/eWbHkPAW Thanks to the great team Tim Hoffman Tim Van Zutphen Laurents Stassen Schelto Kruijff Christiaan Boerma Nicole Bouvy Wido Heeman Mahdi Al-Taher LIMIS Development BV Universiteit Maastricht

I am thriller to announce that the paper in collaboration with Roberto Rusconi, Valeriano Vinci, Lab Mavilio is finally out! Our paper sheds light on the physical interaction between implant surfaces and biological tissues, trying to understand whether texturization of implant surfaces could lead to chronic inflammation. Our findings suggest that the surface features of the implant may have a greater impact on inflammatory reactions than the material itself. This research marks the beginning of exploring this complex area and highlights the importance of understanding interactions between implants and the immune system. Knee to the Limit: Challenges and Solutions The Anatomy Unit of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Porto is organizing a course on December 15th and 16th dedicated to meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament pathology. The course, coordinated by Dr. João Lobo, will include theoretical and practical components taught by a Faculty with extensive experience in treating these pathologies. In my lecture, I will advocate the advantages of using the quadriceps graft in the treatment of anterior cruciate ligament ruptures, my preferred technique in high-performance athletes. A key factor for generating quality microscopy images lies in tissue processing, for the tissue is the canvas on which the "art" is created 🎨 Here you see a walk through of a perfectly preserved airway bifurcation and it's surrounding alveolar architecture, sourced from a lung after 4h of ex vivo lung perfusion 🔬 #imaging #microscopy #lungtransplantation #EVLP #spatialbiology

Ophthopedia Update:In Vivo Confocal Microscopy Characterization of Candida parapsilosis Keratitis: Abstract: The present clinical case concerns two patients with mycotic keratitis because of Candida parapsilosis in which corneal confocal microscopy presented a characteristic feature of this pathogen. Both described patients used a therapeutic contact lens and administered a therapy with steroid eye drops which are well known predisposing factors for the onset of corneal mycoses. This report can be useful for correctly identifying the pathologic condition and quickly directing the therapy. #Ophthalmology #Eye #Ophthotwitter

In his interview Dr. Leick states that there are no clear recommendations or guidelines identifying high-risk PCI. In order to identify these patients, operators must look at a combination of patient-related criteria, coronary anatomy, and hemodynamic status.

Once again, I would like to bring your attention to a publication concerning ECAPS. This animal model study provides valuable insights into the effects of small movements of neuromodulation electrodes that significantly change ECAP amplitudes. This is the type of independent investigation we love to see here at Threshold NeuroDiagnositics. That's why we make connector cables that allow a universal connection to neuromodulation electrodes. https://lnkd.in/gHi-GPDt #ECAPS, #SCS, #neuromodulation
