To me, a little positivity is the best possible way to rally the troops. And over my time on the Leadership Team, I’ve come to feel like nowhere can do that better than Yipiyap, with Anne Morris leading the way.
Every year, we get together as a team and participate in a team building exercise, away from the stuff we think about every day in the office: our annual Blue Sky Day. We’ve been up hill and down dale, sung our hearts out, and this year, clowned around – literally. In March, we spent a day outside our comfort zone with shenanigans ranging from walking the tightrope to aerial hoop work, finishing with a discussion of an inspiring figure in each of our lives.
Moving further into the summer, we’ll embed a tradition we started last year: our Annual General Meeting. Sure, it’s business: but we can’t help but inject a bit of fun. That’s what this value is all about. As a team we can come together, look at the highlights across the year and think about developments for the future.
This value is really close to my heart. I love creating interactive quizzes for people to participate in, have a laugh and decompress after a hard week supporting the young people we work with.
We’re not AI-driven robots at our desks – we’re human beings. We make mistakes. And it’s important that we’re able to come together as a team and find opportunities to connect, bond and share fond memories about our experiences working together.
