This is what wire fraud looks like: 1) Misspelled words 2) Bad grammar 3) Changing wire instructions Literally THANK GOD the client was on his toes and caught these issues. Normally, he would "see task, do task", he would just scan the email and follow the instructions. However, his Realtor, title rep, and mortgage banker told him to watch for fraud. Dear Mortgage Industry, I already warned originators about these 'bribes' companies have to pay to steal your entire database/manipulate you (which is crazy the stuff you're all signing) and hide it as a 'bonus' in recruiting efforts. The best places to work don't have to manipulate you with money or steal your database and you must instead seek them. Remember, you have control as the originator if you don't give that control to any retail or wholesale lender EVER. Also, those who are being recruited into the Wholesale/Broker space. WARNING! There are a lot of scammers out there who are NOT brokers and ten times worse than where you're coming from (like those using "Brokers are Better"). Do not come into this channel without using significant caution and whatever State(s) you're in.... never listen to any wholesale lenders/fraud brokers and do your independent research by meeting with long-time vetted true Independent Mortgage Brokers (small businesses serving their local communities). Even if they are not in your area, many of us are happy to help. Too many are now at risk for their employer's violations of Federal laws. The next 6 months are going to bring significant change- just be on the right side of it.
