>Just weeks earlier, on July 4, 2024, Air New Zealand flight NZ81, en route to Hong Kong, had to turn back to Auckland due to a malfunctioning engine anti-ice system.
> In February 2023, an Air New Zealand Boeing 787 flying from Auckland to New York made an unexpected return due to an undisclosed technical issue. Additionally, another 787 operating a flight to Chicago was forced to turn back due to a fuel usage discrepancy.
