I recently attended the Synapse Florida Summit, a technology conference that takes place yearly in February in Tampa, Florida. This event covers emerging technologies and concepts in industries ranging from Medical technology to entertainment and everything in between. The mission Statement of the event is to “Connect and catalyze Florida's vibrant and diverse innovation ecosystem to drive economic growth and social impact.” which I must say they do a great job of. Attendees represent people from all walks of life. The event does a great job of reflecting diversity in selecting panelists and breakout sessions. While at the event, I saw the 5000 role models among the attendees, an organization created by CongressWoman Fredricka Wilson that provides mentorship for young Men, minorities explicitly with the intent to keep them on the right path and expose them to habits and practices that will broaden their horizons. I am a proud alumnus of this organization. I was introduced to Gary Flowers, the CIO of YearUp This non-profit empowers young adults to reach their potential through education and career opportunities. He took the time to hear a quick pitch of a program we will introduce through the The Blacks In Technology Foundation, which will teach young men and women about careers in fiber Optics. He told me to “Communicate the delta in your program compared to other programs to show why you have the better product.” Where I’m from, we call that a million dollars worth of Game. Another gem came from Kelly Reeser, who spoke on the importance of start-ups communicating their “MVM” or “Minimal Viable messaging”. “ How do you explain your product in 30 seconds? Is the message clear enough for your team to explain it as well as you can?” Kelly said during her presentation. As a founder, I always find myself over or under-explaining products. “ Use content to explain your product, show your journey; this adds context.” She further states. Why didn't I think of that? What stood out to me the most was the utter replacement of #web3 as a concept with #AI. If I can be honest, it's a little overused, but you can’t deny the validity of AI use cases in the last year. Web3 has been sidelined for a new tech darling. I’m sure Web3 will return to the conversation during the next bull run, hopefully in a world ready to take full advantage. Technology moves fast, and AI usurping web3 as the star of the show is in line with how all technology is eventually replaced. I predict #nfts will be back bigger, better, and More practical than ever. All in all, I had a great time, and I look forward to the next event. Thanks again for the invite, Basha Ferdinand we genuinely appreciate your work! #synapsesummit
