I am amazed by how many of my fellow Allspringers have joined the Expect Miracles Foundation - Financial Services Against Cancer distance challenge in 2024 – we are at 434 Strong! It is a cause close to my heart, taking my dad way to early. It is designed to make a difference where 100% of participant-raised dollars through the Distance Challenge goes to cancer research as well as financial assistance for young adult cancer survivors. I can appreciate how many of us have our specific charities, and that is totally understandable. …so here’s my simple ask: Just “like” this post. That’s all. No strings attached. I have > 4k contacts on LinkedIn and if just 25% of those contacts “likes” this post, it will then go to all of their contacts also….think of the awareness campaign that we will create to fight this awful disease with the much needed research that the worlds best scientists are working on now. I am a firm believer that together we can make a difference. (…If you want to make a donation, terrific- here’s my link, but if you just “like” this post, we’ll accomplish a lot also!!) https://lnkd.in/eZzWrxpF (Here I am crushing a ride with #CodyRigsby on my #Peleton reppin’ in my Expect Miracles Foundation - Financial Services Against Cancer gear!!) Last week the Government announced a boost to the National Travel Assistance (NTA) scheme – the first since 2009. This will make a big difference to people undergoing cancer treatment who have to travel for treatment. It will also help us to keep the wolf from the door at the Cancer Society Lion’s Lodge in Hamilton where we have a $550/night funding shortfall. However, there is more to be done. Demand for cancer support services is the highest it’s ever been and growing - 74 New Zealanders are diagnosed with cancer every day and this is set to double by 2040. On a regional level, we must continue to think differently about how we can support more people on their cancer journeys. We must do it fast and we must do it together. The treadmill of year-round intensive fundraising is not a sustainable way to meet the rising need. Nobody should have to fight this battle on their own. https://lnkd.in/gYZwjeeB

Neuroblastoma is a terrible childhood cancer that is often treated with increasingly intensive, toxic and prolonged treatment which can have a huge impact on little bodies. Thankfully, researchers like Dr Greg Goodall from University of South Australia are looking into better and safer ways to treat neuroblastoma, thanks to generous donations from the South Australian community. Dr Goodall is using a new approach to identify which children would benefit from more intense treatment, and those who could be spared from treatment they don't need. His ultimate hope is that his research will lead to new and less toxic treatment options for children in the future. The Faris Foundation treats every dollar as if it comes from a child's piggy bank. Because our operating expenses are generously subsidized, we are able to maximize the impact of every dollar we receive by putting it towards our programs, not overhead. We are so grateful to our community of supporters for investing with us, and in our 2023 Impact Report, you can see just how transformative this approach has been in bringing brighter days and better treatments to children with cancer: https://lnkd.in/gfjV3rw3
