Sky-Drones are participating in the Project BLUEPRINT showcase at Cranfield University's Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre (DARTeC) today. Project BLUEPRINT, a two-year initiative under the Innovate UK Future Flight Challenge, concludes this year. The project aims to develop an open-source solution to the beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) drone challenge, enabling the creation of drone zones in local areas. Previous BVLOS projects have primarily operated in Temporary Danger Areas (TDAs), which are temporary and isolated from other airspace users, limiting scalability. These operations have focused on technology demonstrations and trials without establishing a sustainable business model. For BVLOS drones to achieve persistent and routine operations, integration into "shared airspace" with other airspace users is essential, as opposed to operating in "segregated airspace." So we love to see this in action on the other side of the world! 🇺🇲🇺🇲 At the University of Colorado-Boulder, researchers are exploring ways to combine uncrewed technology with artificial intelligence to enhance search and rescue operations. As reported by CBS News, the university’s Aerospace Engineering Department is collaborating with the Boulder Emergency Squad on a project aimed at enabling search and rescue teams to use drones more effectively. This project will allow teams to feed information to drones, helping them scout locations and find missing persons more efficiently. By providing a better perspective of the area, this technology will enable teams to multi-task more effectively during rescue operations. Researchers and public safety officials believe that this approach will reduce the number of personnel needed and help volunteers and first responders locate missing people more quickly.
