I see this mistake A LOT (especially with people who make videos on their phone or with a webcam): Looking at yourself instead of the camera lens. Why does this matter? Because you’re actually speaking to one individual on the other side of that lens, and if you’re not looking at the lens, it’s like you’re talking to them while staring at their chest. When you speak to people in real life, you make eye contact (at least for a good chunk of the time). If someone talks to you but never looks you in the eye, it’s weird, right?
