In my 23 years at Moran Shipping Agencies, one of the most common questions I get is “What’s your relationship with Moran Towing Corporation?” The answer is: we share a first name and like them alot! They’re a great company that we’re pleased work closely with. The below video highlights not only why we like them so much but also the critical role #HarborTugs fill for vessel traffic safety in the world of #ShipsAndShipping.

Dispatcher at Moran Towing Corporation

On the evening of March 27th, thanks to the extraordinary efforts of the crews of the Lizzy B. Moran and the Sommer S, a certain disaster was avoided in the New Orleans harbor when they were able to divert the Anglo Marie Louise (840' long with 50' of draft) which had lost power southbound from colliding with Nashville Avenue. This certainly had the potential to be catastrophic to the container shipping industry in South Louisiana. But thanks to the brave efforts of the crews of the Lizzy and the Sommer, catastrophe was avoided. This goes to highlight the dangers our mariners can face at any given time on the hazardous waters of the lower Mississippi River and is certainly a nod to the excellent training and preparedness of our fleet crews. If the vessel name Anglo Marie Louise is familiar, it was very nearly involved in an incident at Convent Marine Terminal the evening of March 26th, when Bisso tugs were able to prevent the MV Thunderbird which had also lost power downbound from striking the Anglo Marie Louise at its berth in Convent Marine Terminal. Another excellent job by our well trained and dedicated mariners! Moran Towing Corporation

Bravo. "Once I did bad, and that I heard ever. Twice I did good, but that I heard never". Dale Carnegie.

Great sailors, extraordinary accomplishment performed on a daily basis that only get recognized when catastrophic events are avoided.
