All Facts 💯‼️ One of my favorite videos about creating a culture of speaking up. Alan Mulally, who was the CEO of Ford, emphasizes the importance of creating an environment where people feel comfortable speaking up. He highlights the need for leaders to demonstrate vulnerability and openness themselves, encouraging honesty and transparency within the team. By fostering an atmosphere of trust and respect, leaders can empower their team members to share their opinions and concerns without fear of reprisal. This approach cultivates a culture of psychological safety, where individuals feel valued and confident in contributing their ideas, ultimately leading to better decision-making and organizational success.

The best leaders are gardener-minded leaders: they create the optimal environment for their people to grow and thrive. Here is a great example of a master gardener in action: Alan Mulally Watch this ➡️ https://heyor.ca/0E01Ko

In 2006, Ford was dealing with a tremendous lack of psychological safety. As Mulally illustrates in this video, this can lead to some major problems in an organization, where people are afraid to speak up for fear of being wrong, believing their job, their status, or their credibility may be at stake. Why is this such an issue? Problems go unaddressed, compound on each other, and can ultimately cause workplace injuries or even sink an entire corporation. So how do we fix it? Don't shoot the messenger, but instead tackle the problem directly. Help them find a solution, or direct them where they might find one. This is especially important for those in management or leadership positions. The best functioning teams will always have more known issues than the equivalent poor functioning team. As issues become acknowledged, they give direction for process or team improvement, allowing for better collaboration and better solutions to the issue at hand. There's an old cliche that illustrates this very well: "Two heads are better than one"

Lead with your passions! It seems obvious, but when you do things that genuinely excite you, work turns to play. And when work turns to play, you turn into the energizer bunny. You go from dreading the thing, to wanting to do it over and over and over again. And not just for money either, but because you genuinely enjoy doing it. That’s the fun theory in action. Behavioral change is facilitated best partly just by having fun. If you’re having trouble sticking to certain behaviors, find ways to make them more fun. P.S. what’s one thing you *hate* doing, and how can you make it more enjoyable? Comment below! ___ 💡 Follow me for strategies to grow your thought leadership!

Helping results-driven businesses and individuals build high-performing teams | 🚀 Top 1% LinkedIn SSI Industry Ranking | Principal Consultant | Education & Training | Leadership Development | Insightful Communicator
I was catching up with a good friend of mine this week, reminiscing about our cricket playing days and the successful teams we've been a part of. But now, we dont play sport because we want to protect our 'good' leg, shoulder or back! But our conversation quickly shifted to something more meaningful: what makes a successful team. Charlie Munger spoke about two kinds of knowledge, and it got me thinking about the two types of people you often find on teams. 1️⃣ The ones who truly know their stuff. They've put in the hard work, built their skills and consistently deliver results. 2️⃣ The ones who can talk a good game. They sound impressive, look the part, but in the end their impact is often limited to just that - talk. Here’s the key: You need both. 📣 Communicators bring vision: They may not always know every technical detail, but their ability to articulate big-picture ideas and bringing teams together to deliver is invaluable. 🤝 Complementary skills: Teams thrive when different strengths come together. "Doers" execute, while the "talkers" shine in client relations, strategy, and fostering team morale. As a leader, your challenge isn’t just knowing who’s on your team, but how to leverage both types of talents to drive success. How well do you really know your team? Are you leveraging both the doers and the talkers to achieve success, or is your balance off? #Leadership #WinningTeams #Diversity #Teams If you get a chance watch this video 👇 https://lnkd.in/giSec8wC

I've witnessed firsthand the transformative impact regular one-on-one meetings can have on a company. Here’s why they should be a non-negotiable part of your leadership strategy: - Strengthen team engagement: Personalized attention boosts morale and engagement. It shows your team you value them not just as employees but as individuals with unique contributions. - Foster open communication: These meetings provide a safe space for feedback and idea exchange, crucial for innovation and problem-solving. You'll gain invaluable insights directly from those who understand the operational side of your business. - Align individual goals with company vision: Understanding the aspirations of your team members and aligning them with your company’s objectives creates a cohesive, motivated workforce driving towards common goals. As a leader, your role in these meetings is two-fold – listener and mentor. Encourage honest dialogue and provide guidance aligned with your business vision.
