More Than Mountains. 🏔️ It may surprise you to learn that our team don’t just operate on the uplands of #Dartmoor. Our remit also covers the rural and urban areas of South and East #Devon, including #Exeter, #Torbay and all areas in between. This is why this week’s training exercise took place on a farm near Exeter, and included a casualty site within an abandoned railway line. By coincidence, a few hours later at 1:30am on Thursday morning, we received a Callout to assist Devon and Cornwall Police in the search for a missing person in the Teignbridge area. The team stood down at 3:20am after the missing person was safely located. #mountainrescue (Image from training session)

At CDA, we prioritize safety above all else. On National 811 Day, we want to remind everyone that safety is in your hands. Every dig, every time! Did you know? 811 is the national call-before-you-dig phone number. Whether you're planting a tree, installing a fence, or starting any project that involves digging, it's crucial to call 811 or visit your state 811 center’s website a few business days in advance. By contacting 811, you'll request that the approximate location of buried utilities be marked with paint or flags. This prevents unintentionally digging into underground utility lines, which can be dangerous and costly. Here's what you need to know: - When to Call: Call 811 or use the online service a few business days before you begin any digging. - Information Needed: Provide the address, county, nearest cross street, the type of project, and the exact area on your property where you plan to dig. - Wait for Confirmation: Allow time for utilities to respond and ensure all utilities have marked their lines before you start digging. - Dig Carefully: Once all lines are marked, dig with caution around utility marks and consider relocating projects close to these areas. Let's dig safely and responsibly, together! #811day #CDAtps #WBE #WomenOwnedBusiness #WBECeast #WBENC #WBENCNetwork #WBENCCertified #NAWIC #NAWICphl #CDAbluebell #DA4S #NAWICChapter145

From the Wisconsin DNR: "In the past seven days alone, there have been 70 wildfires across Wisconsin, with 27 of them starting because of improper equipment use (things like unsecured trailer chains, mowing, recreational vehicles, tractors, etc.)." Check current fire danger, wildfire reports and burning restrictions on the DNR's website: https://lnkd.in/gG3_89Cq https://lnkd.in/gG3_89Cq" See the work being done on ICC 605, the Standard for Residential Construction in Regions with Wildfire Hazard. https://lnkd.in/guSx9CmH

👷Last Sunday, the team at Ringway Worcestershire spent the day removing debris from Bewdley Bridge.👷 We chose Sunday for this task to avoid disrupting week-day traffic, particularly given the temporary one-way system in place for vehicles crossing the bridge. This one-way system is part of a larger on-going environmental flood barrier scheme. To complete this project, we partnered with Beaumont Traffic Management, with whom we have previously collaborated on several projects. In order to remove the debris, a 30-tonne long reach excavator from our West Midlands plant was used, along with tipper lorries provided by Talbots, who are also based locally in the county. To protect the bridge during the operation, the team laid rubber mats and timber blocks to stabilise the machinery. During the debris removal, the team also recovered two large Canadian canoes, which were later transported to the Bewdley Rowing Club. Given the confined workspace and the need for both a low loader and a vehicle-mounted crane, we employed trained banksmen and reversing marshals to ensure safe operations. These personnel played a crucial role in managing pedestrian traffic and safeguarding the public. This project is another example of the Network Resilience works our team is undertaking throughout the colder months to maintain Worcestershire’s road network and ensure public safety. #Ringway #Worcestershire #RingwayWorcestershire #NetworkResilience #BewdleyBridge
