Callout #42 Saturday 7th December At just before 11:00am the team were contacted by Devon and Cornwall Police to help locate a walker who was lost and fatigued around a kilometre north of Saddle Tor. There were concerns for his health. With Storm Darragh approaching its peak and an amber weather warning of wind🚨, a team of our volunteers who were already at our Rescue Centre were immediately dispatched. The walker struggled towards Haytor where he was located by our team. He was then guided off the hill, assessed, given a hot drink and food and escorted back to the safety of his car and hotel accommodation nearby. The team stood down at just after 12:00. 8 of our volunteers were involved in this callout. #mountainrescue #dartmoor #devon #StormDarragh Video credit: Henry Smith

Felling hazard trees is essential to the safety of fire fighters, as well as to prevent the spread of the wildfire. Burning trees will spread the fire a lot more standing than they will on the ground. When choosing trees for felling, we only fell the trees that have a likelihood of falling over in the near future. That way, standing dead trees are preserved for habitat as much as possible. #wildfire #fire #habitat #safety

Protecting Mission Trails and our community from the risk of wildfire is important to us, and all of us at the park are committed to doing what we can to make Mission Trails fire-resilient. Thanks to a grant from San Diego River Conservancy, a state agency, the Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation can fund brush management and invasive species removal around the park to help build fire resiliency and restore native habitat. Thank you CBS 8 for sharing this news with the community and highlighting the City and MTRP Foundation’s collective efforts to reduce fire fuels. What can you do to help prevent wildfire in our community? -Plant native plants: native plants are naturally more fire-resistant and adapted to our climate. -Maintain brush around your home: clear overgrown brush regularly, but no power tools during the dry season. Check the City’s website for important info. -Volunteer: you can volunteer at Mission Trails to help the park remove invasive species and create habitat -Donate: Give to the Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation to help support our work which includes securing major grants to make Mission Trails a safe space for our community and wildlife https://lnkd.in/gCtyFA9s #fire #sandiego #missiontrails #sandiegoriverconservancy #sdparksandrec #mtrpfoundation

Latest update on #Milton for the All Hazards Consortium by Dave Jones. We know some people chose not to evacuate, high winds can cause catastrophic damage. Have an interior room, closet, or bathroom ready to take shelter in with medications, food, water, cushions/pillows/matress, protect important documents, if you're going to bed, wear clothes, have shoes ready. Do not go into an interior room in surge, go up or better yet, get out now and go to a local shelter. Our thoughts are with you all. https://lnkd.in/eYunX_y2

Salmons are highly intelligent. In a certain season, they swim upstream to get babies. They use non-Newtonian, adverse friction techniques to swim up. What is non-Newtonian about this? 1. It works like martial arts. You use the energy in the environment (adverse energy) and you go faster than ever. No friction. Thanks to interconnection, shape of body and movements. Design technology. No machines. 2. So, how do they navigate and cross the road? They navigate via the water. The evidence is overwhelming in #science that water is a receiver and transmitter. It's how we are all connected to everything else. 3. Is it the water? The microbes in the water? The layered structure? Greek distillers say to me water automatically groups in 7 layers if you heat it slow, it doesn't become chaos. Or 7 layers in the 4th phase of water - prof. Gerald Pollack - energy in 4th phase of water? I honestly don't know. I'm doing sense. Let them do the sciences. My quest is, can I do it too? Do you know where to go next in your life/work? What to do today? Tomorrow? What's your laser focus in days of flow and chaos? Do you use your own intuition to speed up action in line with your 'calling' or blueprint or whatever else you call it that you are supposed to do with your talents and life? Tell us in the comments. Non-Newtonian is simply holistic. We don't (want to) understand it in science but if you do complexity without holistic what #sense does it make??? Are we just going to be computers without individual human direction? I choose not to. I'm an experiential scientist. I decided young in life to be an autonomous being no matter what. And my life became magic. Not always nice magic. 😂😂😂 But well, that's the adventure of a quest isn't it? I find the knowledge I need for my life and holistic work fast just by being intuitive and checking results online... Life is not about 'truth'. I don't live other people's 'normal'. Life is not climate change, but finding solutions for local weather resilience... Extreme weather is the solution for these salmons, even though it might be a nuisance for the trucks drivers 😂😂😂😂😂 So shall I advise to use absorbing asphalt? Or shall I be silent in places where nature still lives with humans... Hmmm... let me be silent... 🌍🤿💦 There are always 2 sides to everything. It's the paradox. Tell me what's on your other side of the medal you are working on? Let's get some collective intelligence in and rewild some minds and souls... #water #energy #biomimicry #nonnewtonian #math #paradox
Why did the salmon cross the road? Simple. To have babies, at least according to, a fish hatchery specialist who recorded the video of more than a dozen salmon swimming across a flooded US Highway in, Washington State. Salmon in the area typically come from the Skokomish River and inhabit the creeks in order to spawn. When there's heavy rain, the creeks flood, sending the fish everywhere. Every year, these fish cross traffic in Washington State. #water #fish #washington
