Neurological and psychological outcomes! Dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) connectivity can increase following guided imagery and mindfulness. Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital compared Mentalizing Imagery Therapy (MIT) with a support group (SG) for caregivers of family members with dementia. The study demonstrated that following MIT, the DLPFC connectivity strengthened, and depression and anxiety decreased for caregivers compared to SG. This adds to the strong body of research in mind body interventions for neurological and psychological health. Physicians often encounter patients and their families who voice concerns over everyday memory lapses, such as forgetting where they placed their keys or struggling to recall a word. It's crucial to reassure them that these occurrences are often part of normal aging and don't necessarily indicate serious cognitive decline. So, how can you tell the difference? One effective approach is establishing baseline cognitive function that compares a patient's cognition with his or her peers. This proactive strategy helps detect any significant changes early on, so appropriate interventions can be taken. #qr8health #MemoryCare #CognitiveHealth #PhysicianWellness 🧠💊 https://lnkd.in/eezvsPPd
