Praise for the Good Neighbours Lawn Care team from DASCH-supported homes 👇 "The yard looked amazing! They went over and above by weeding the front yard flower beds." "It's so sad to hear lawn care has come to an end. It left our lawn looking great. Big thanks the guys and their coordinator." "This really made our lawn well kept, clean, and looking nice this summer. Looking forward to seeing the team next summer." The Good Neighbours program provides summer lawn care to DASCH-supported homes. This year we were able to double the number of people employed by the program, in part thanks to Red River Co-op's gift card donation to fuel up between visits to 60 homes across the city! Another great season in the books! We hope to expand the service next year - stay tuned 🤫 #LawnCare #SummerJob #InclusiveCommunities

Be Kind - Be Grateful Almost at the half way mark to 100, here are the next 5 suggestions. #59 – For that special person’s next birthday, consider giving a memorable experience instead of a material gift. While gifts can eventually fade or end up at a garage sale, creating a memory involves spending quality time together, which is priceless. Those shared moments will be cherished and remembered for a lifetime. #58 – As students prepare for the new school year, they often seek out new backpacks. Consider donating your gently used one to someone in need. For those less fortunate or living on the street, having a secure, ergonomic bag to carry their limited possessions can make a significant difference. #57 – Leave a bowl of water with ice cubes on the curb outside your house, our furry friends can get overheated in the summer’s heat. #56 – Get some youth in your neighbourhood to join you in a car wash for a cause. All money collected is given to charity of choice. Do not set the price, rather ask for a donation as people are more likely to give more for your cause. #55 - Leave a note on your garbage for the sanitation workers thanking them for collecting your waster every week. Adding a coffee gift card will certainly bring out a smile.

Teacher Appreciation Week is a time set aside to celebrate and honor those individuals who invest in the education of our students. Teachers have profound impacts on individual people and on our community at large. I wouldn't be where I am if not for the formal and informal educators in my life. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!! Let's celebrate our teachers not just this week, but year-round. Looking for concrete ways to celebrate? As a former teacher, here are a few I suggest: - Share gratitude. Teachers don't hear it nearly enough. A kind email, text, or card could go a long way! - Donate to the classroom wishlist. Teachers come out of pocket way too often. Don't know what to donate - ask! - Speak affirmingly about teachers, especially around students. Those positive deposits make a huge difference. - Find out their favorite restaurant or coffee shop. Everyone loves a gift card!
