As an HR executive, excellence is not about achieving perfection; it’s about fostering a mindset of continuous growth and commitment to our mission and vision. It’s about taking bold, decisive actions—even when they’re imperfect. This perspective reminds me of Teddy Roosevelt's quote about the man in the arena—someone who dares greatly and strives valiantly. In my role, excellence means creating an environment where our employees are not only empowered but inspired to take initiative, make impactful decisions, and continuously learn and evolve. It’s about championing a culture of resilience, innovation, and relentless pursuit of improvement. We embody excellence by: • Providing comprehensive opportunities for professional development and career advancement. • Encouraging transparent communication and a feedback-rich environment to drive innovation. • Celebrating the achievements and contributions of our team members, recognizing their efforts in pushing boundaries and setting new standards. Excellence is a journey of daring greatly, taking informed risks, and turning challenges into opportunities. It’s about showing up every day with ambition and dedication, knowing that our collective efforts elevate the quality of care we provide and propel our organization forward. What does excellence mean to you in your role? How do you pursue and embody excellence in your daily work? I’d love to hear your insights and experiences. #MissionMotivated #ManInTheArena #ExcellenceNotPerfection #GrandTraversePavilions

After a few months of exploring possibilities for my next career adventure, I've discovered the answer to the question of what I'm looking for - what will fill my cup in my next role. The answer: joy. I am a mission-driven leader. There are so many worthy nonprofits and corporate brands out there that fit my requirement of making the world a better place. But what will make the "right" opportunity stand out to me? What will motivate me to show up and give 110% every day, and leave me fulfilled at the end of a hard week? Joy. A mission and purpose and people who are filled with joy when they come to work, when they face tough challenges, and when they look at the output and outcomes of their efforts. Not familiar with this? Take a look at this post from All Access Life and you'll see what I mean. The world can be an ugly place, and when you look around to notice all the brokenness that needs our help it can get lonely and hopeless pretty fast. To date, I've had the good fortune to find organizations that either led with joy or allowed me to discover and build and amplify that joy internally and with their audiences. There's nothing like it. So employers, if you find joy in your work, in your mission and purpose, I want to talk to you. If you're looking to scale and need help building a team that believes in your purpose and shows up fully committed for that purpose, let me know. We just might make great partners.
Bradley Heaven and I were thrilled to welcome the Mackay Senior AugCom class to our office for a fantastic visit! The students and staff joined us to learn more about our nonprofit All Access Life and explore our adaptive products. Laughter and smiles filled the room, making for a truly memorable day. We're grateful to have shared this experience with such an amazing group, and we look forward to future opportunities to connect. Thank you for joining us!

Culture and Arts continues to play a vital role in supporting the whole system to look beyond traditional service delivery for improving health and wellbeing. Being able to lean into the social interventions that come with embracing the arts, can support a more holistic approach in improving outcomes. The #HealingArtsScotland collaboration brought to life the tangible impact being made by this sector and by embracing this into healthcare delivery brings further to life the vision set out by Scotlands Chief Medical Officer Sir Gregor Smith, in the importance of how we better understand the interconnectedness of “biology and biography”. Public Health Scotland continues to play a vital role in diversifying the approach in supporting the nation to reduce #healthinequalities and improve healthy life years. Learning through global partnerships to support local service planning and targeted early interventions. “Together, through cross-sector collaborations, supporting communities #thrive”. Colleagues across Public Health Scotland are working hard to explore ways to integrate partnership working across this arena by sharing #data, #insight, #evidence and #reserach for more targeted inventions in local systems. #WholeSystemsApproach #PublicHealth #CultureandArts #SocialPrescribing #PartnershipWorking World Health Organization Catherine Cassidy-Dedics Lisa Sinclair Nancy Riach Mike Winter Siobhan McConnachie Safia Qureshi Kim Simpson Frances Elliot Paul Nelson Emma Dixon
Health and wellbeing go far beyond being treated in hospitals and is intricately linked to every part of our daily lives, including culture and the arts. Yesterday, we were honoured to have Christopher Bailey, Arts and Health lead at the World Health Organization (WHO), visit our Edinburgh office to speak to PHS colleagues about the important role that the arts can play in healing and how this can be applied to the development of our new strategy. This all-staff session builds on our recent contribution to the @Healing Arts Scotland Festival held in August last year, a nation-wide festival which celebrated and advocated for improved physical, mental and social health through the arts. Following the session, both Christopher and Angiolina Foster, PHS Chair, spoke at the Scottish Parliament, where they shared how the learnings from the festival can be taken into Scotland's health and care system. I'll be promoting this to parents at my school. I see plenty of "high-achieving" students who seem emotionally healthy, but others, not so much. The stress and anxiety is visible on their faces and in their voices. In everything we do the Arcadia HS College & Career Center is mindful of the immense pressure on all of our students. One small example: when I give presentations I talk slowly to keep the vibe relaxed. This means I usually can't cover a topic in as much depth as I'd like so I'm investing more time in formatting "handout" style material to post afterwards in our Google Classroom. Colleagues, what are some practices you use to de-stress the application journey for your students?
Join us on Feb. 6th for this free event hosted by Brennan Barnard with the wonderful Dr. David Gleason. He will take your questions live. https://lnkd.in/eH4met-c
