In this fourth video resource from the African diaspora youth belonging project we examine African diaspora students' experiences of Australian school curriculum, particularly their limited opportunities to learn about Africa and the diaspora in Australian classrooms. The youth co-researchers from the research project share a range of insights that could provide a starting point for teachers in Australian classrooms to incorporate content about Africa and the diaspora. #curriculum #Australiancurriculum #Africandiaspora #youthresearchers #participatoryactionresearch

The popularity of GED is on the rise among high school students in Thailand, with many students opting for homeschooling. This shift is driven by factors such as academic pressure and bullying in traditional school settings. But beyond that, they're driven by the desire to earn a high school degree recognized in the US and by English-intensive university programs in Thailand. In my teaching approach, I focus on helping students not only pass the test but also create a supportive and enriching learning environment. 🌟 #GED #Education #Thailand"

Children in Nepal lost an average of 3 years of learning due to COVID-related school closures and disruptions—the highest in the world. We’re working to bridge this gap for 36,000 children across 600 public schools in Madesh and Karnali provinces with an approach called Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL). The TaRL methodology is an inclusive form of teaching which groups learners based on need rather than age or grade. It focuses on building foundational skills, compared to a more traditional focus on covering a curriculum. Students are assessed regularly and moved between groups as they progress; this means that each student gets the personalized, quality education they need 🤗 📚 #Nepal #EducationMatters #InclusiveEducation

Finland's education system is ranked the best in the world. At one time, the dropout rate was almost 0%. In a classroom, there are always 3 teachers, 2 focus on instruction while the 3rd works with students who are struggling. ALL teachers in Finland are master's degree holders. Teachers are also selected from the TOP 10% of the country's Top Performers. Basically, Finland's BEST STUDENTS are selected to be teachers. The average student speaks at least FOUR languages. ...ooh, and they pay their teachers handsomely. PARENTS' INVOLVEMENT — parents take an active role in the education of their kids. They supervise homework. They keep in touch DAILY with their kids' teachers. They're HARD on their kids. #education #CBC #kicd

We need to be more inclusive even when we talk about internationalization of higher education. Dr. Mary Sambu of Moi University challenged Higher Education stakeholders to think about being more inclusive through her presentation on the study that she conducted on Enhancing Educational Equity for Learners with Special Needs in Kenya. We learnt how to say hello in sign language and participants shared their experiences with learners with special needs in the classroom and how they have learnt to adapt their teaching methods to be more inclusive. #ANIE2024 #InclusivityinHigherEducation

The knowledge gap we have on the African continent today is not ultimately "Subject based".... it's not that we don't know Math, English, Sciences etc but that we have prioritized these so called subjects in our basic education systems above "context" and "current realities" per time!!! We need to redefine what we call "knowledge" in our schools today. Do you agree ?? #africa #africarising #knowledge #contextmastery #education #school #k12 #teach #teacher #teachers #schoolleaders #sdg4

Myth #4 about Education in Israel Is the quality of education in Israel low due to a shortage of teaching hours? Just as the education system does not lack funds, compared to OECD countries, Shoresh Institution findings indicate that there is no shortage of instruction hours in Israel. In other words, the low knowledge level of Israeli children in basic subjects cannot be explained by a lack of instruction hours. As the Shoresh Institution shows, Israel budgets more teaching hours than most developed countries, yet its pupils' achievements are still below those of the majority of these countries. The question is, what exactly is being taught during these hours, who is teaching the material, and under what conditions is it being done? Want to better understand why Israel needs a complete restart of its education system? Visit the Shoresh Institution website (www.shoresh.institute), see our findings (including https://did.li/vsfx5), and learn how this issue threatens Israel's future.
