As convenient as it is working with middleware, it is also great to have tools like MetaSounds in Unreal. I have been designing the antigravity sci-fi engines for Vigilante Racer a game by Dan Violet Sagmiller. After many iterations in Reaper, I ended settling on a combination of Fm synthesis, wave tables generators, and effects like phase, flanger, chorus, etc... MetaSounds gave me the possibility to recreate these sounds almost exactly as I designed them in the DAW, and no need to compromise fidgeting with loops. In this video you can hear all the components of the engines. First, you will hear them separate, and then all together. Disclaimer: At the time of recording, CPU usage was spiking up to 10% per core. But I recently updated the patches and now it’s running at 2% with no spikes. phew 😅 #gameaudio #sounddesign #gamedev

Just posted the second video in the SIMIND tutorial series. This tutorial is mainly focused on the "listmode" routine. I decided to do a deep dive into listmode early on in this series because its data output permits a *deep* understanding of the SPECT acquisition process. It will allow us to thoroughly understand simulation parameters such as spatial resolution and energy resolution. We'll also bin the SPECT data into projections ourselves (a really valuable exercise). A common theme in this series: to use SIMIND properly, you have to *really* understand the SPECT acquisition process; always keep this in mind. Enjoy!
