Finally, I completed my internship with Zummit Africa and it was an exciting journey. I met and worked with some bright minds like Chioma Eze James Ogunsanya and Timilehin Owolabi who were pivotal in my development.
As a team leader, working with these individuals, we built a weapon detection application which takes in an imagd and detects weapons in the image and if there are none returns the results accordingly. We went further to implement functionalities that supported live stream videos from cameras like CCTV and could also analyze a video and annotate it for weapons on-the-go using Yolo and Flask; this was the highlight of my experience with them.
Another aspect I particularly enjoyed was the paper review sessions we had. Despite the busy schedule of my teammates-since they all had other jobs they did- they never missed these sessions and they were cooperative enough to make sure we met deadlines.
In summary, Zummit Africa is committed to democratizing AI in Africa, they have given interns like myself the opportunity to garner experience and grow from being neophytes to well-rounded Machine Learning Engineers and Python Developers. It was truly a journey worth taking.
Thank you Zummit Africa.
