NEW: The Port Authority has awarded joint-venture firm Tutor Perini/O&G with a design-build contract to replace Newark Liberty International Airport's existing outmoded AirTrain system. Peoria is considering building an airport complex to boost the economy. A study suggests this 220-acre complex could bring significant benefits: $1 billion in annual economic impact, $60 million in yearly tax revenue, and creation of 8,000 jobs. The estimated construction cost is $150 million. Similar to Scottsdale Airpark, Peoria Airpark would handle private jets and smaller planes, not big commercial airlines or cargo carriers.
