This week, we have wisdom from the wonderful Michael Ferrabee from Strategic Rebellion. I had the privilege of participating in some communication coaching sessions he led, and it transformed my approach to leadership communications. Michael is a leadership and advocacy strategist with more than 30 years on the front-lines of senior management in the private and public sectors.  He is also an Associate at the Telfer School of Management.  Michael provides confidential counsel to private sector companies, governments at all levels, and multilateral institutions in Canada, the US and abroad. He shares: So, it is time to get the ok from your leader or donor or board. Three things to concentrate on: 1. Your audience. Who are they? What do they know about your subject? What will they be unsure about? Frame what you say around the questions they will have. 2. What is your “ask”? Is it clear, one sentence, and straightforward? Start and end with it. 3. Keep it simple. Ditch the jargon, use short words and make it clear. Fancy graphics and groovy slides won't sell it – your ability to articulate it in a way the audience can understand, directly and simply, will.
