A flu vaccine is needed every year for two reasons. First, a person’s immune protection from vaccination declines over time, so an annual flu vaccine is needed for optimal protection. Second, because flu viruses are constantly changing, the composition of flu vaccines is reviewed annually, and vaccines are updated to protect against the viruses that research indicates will be most common during the upcoming flu season. For the best protection, everyone 6 months and older should get vaccinated annually.

Your Local Epidemiologist does it again with a fantastic post about vaccine communication. A new round of COVID boosters is out and yet public communication around the importance of vaccination has been lackluster at best. When thinking about vaccines, we need to remember what efficacy means. Just because you are vaccinated does not mean you will not contract COVID. However, COVID vaccines do an amazing job at protecting us against the most severe COVID outcomes including hospitalization and death. In fact, they do this better than most other vaccines that exist! Even more importantly, the more people who are vaccinated, the more likely we are to establish herd immunity. Herd immunity protects the most vulnerable people in our population and reduces everyone's chance of getting sick. Go get those boosters! https://lnkd.in/ghZYkjZH

Vaccines teach your immune system how to create antibodies that protect you from diseases. It's much safer for your immune system to learn this through vaccination than by catching the diseases and treating them happy national vaccines day .

"Why Vaccines Are Essential: Key Reasons" 1. Life-Saving: Vaccines prevent serious, sometimes deadly, diseases like measles and polio. 2. Community Protection: Vaccines reduce the spread of infections, protecting those who can't get vaccinated (e.g., newborns, immunocompromised individuals). 3. Cost-Effective: Preventing disease through vaccination saves healthcare costs and reduces the burden on medical systems. 4. Global Health Security: Widespread vaccination helps control outbreaks and prevent pandemics. 5. Safe and Effective: Vaccines undergo extensive testing to ensure they are safe and effective before being approved for public use. #VaccinesWork #PublicHealth #ProtectOurFuture
