It's essential to emphasize the critical role they play in real-time decision-making and public safety. Dispatchers need to be trained to quickly assess evolving situations by actively listening, asking key clarifying questions, and accurately relaying information to responding units. This requires a deep understanding of potential risks, the ability to prioritize calls based on severity, and continuous communication to ensure first responders have the most current data. Encouraging dispatchers to remain calm under pressure while managing multiple inputs is vital for creating a clear picture of events as they unfold, ensuring that both emergency responders and civilians remain as safe as possible. Ultimately, we must come together as a community to ensure that our public spaces are safe for all. Following recent press coverage, I couldn't be more encouraged by the new government's commitment to enhancing community safety through investment in community policing, upgraded street lighting, and revitalising public spaces. Their vision paves the way for enhanced collaboration between our industry, local authorities, and community stakeholders, ensuring public safety remains a top priority. At Mitie, we own solid relationships with all our stakeholders, and we have a transparent approach to data sharing. But the wider community needs to come together to build improved communication channels. Making valuable intelligence, such as crime trends and emerging security threats more accessible will enable us to proactively identify and address potential risks. Ultimately leading to improved response strategies across the board. And it shouldn’t stop there, collaborative training programmes will provide frontline colleagues with the essential skills to effectively support the work of the police. Training sessions focused on emergency response, conflict resolution, and crime prevention will play a vital role in strengthening our combined security efforts. With the proper skill development approach, private security can do more to meaningfully support law enforcement and to build and grow those all-important relationships with local communities.
