I've got some disappointing news... Yup, that's right. We have to deliver the bad news too. The only part of my job that I actually dislike. Think about it. For every candidate that a firm places, we often have 3-4 others who didn't get selected. And we OWE IT TO THEM to close the loop and provide feedback. I don't think enough companies really recognize how emotionally invested people get in new opportunities and therefore don't follow up with the professional courtesy to thank them for their time and provide feedback or just a status. - It's a major missed opportunity if you ask me... Your branding yourself after all... Many times, a recruiter will engage with someone who is not actively looking or even considering a change. Its our job to get those people to listen and even influence them to explore a new opportunity - out of nowhere. Think about that. Then, naturally, interest increases. Enthusiasm and excitement build! The idea of change is now a real possibility! Spouses and kids are pulled into the conversation and even the possibility of moving to a new state! And just like that - poof. It's gone. And back to the same day to day as before. "Disappointing" is an understatement... Its an emotional roller coaster. I love helping other founders.  It is so rewarding to see them scale their operations and reach new heights. This is the review that makes me proud as heck.  Especially the part of setting the ground for their future hiring.
