#WiFi6 is here, making our devices faster and smarter. But hold onto your routers, #WiFi7 is coming! It's got ultra-low latency, multi-link operation (MLO), and speeds that’ll make your head spin… in a good way! Think faster gaming, seamless VR, and IoT devices that actually talk to each other without that annoying lag. While Wi-Fi 6 is already rocking the smart home and IoT world with efficiency, Wi-Fi 7 will take it up a notch, making everything smoother, faster, and more connected than ever before. But... here's the catch: Wi-Fi 7 might cost you a little extra. 😅 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gWBBhh3Y

Bluetooth vs Wi-fi for IoT : understanding the difference Both are essential in the IoT landscape, but they serve different purposes based on their range, power consumption, and data requirements. Here’s a quick comparison: 1️⃣ Range: Bluetooth covers short distances (10-30m), while Wi-Fi can reach over 100m. 2️⃣ Power Consumption: Bluetooth, especially BLE, is more energy-efficient than Wi-Fi, making it ideal for wearables and battery-operated devices. 3️⃣ Data Transfer Speed: Wi-Fi’s higher speeds suit applications needing large data transfers, like video streaming and home security. 4️⃣ Use Cases: Bluetooth works well in peer-to-peer or close-range settings, while Wi-Fi connects multiple devices in larger networks. Choosing the right protocol is essential in IoT, where functionality and efficiency are key #robotics #IoT #WiFi #Bluetooth #Wirelesscommunicatio #smartdevices #IoTprotocols

How should an IoT device provide a great user experience? Typically, these devices are small, power efficient, have some degree of water and dust ingress protection, and are incredibly limited in terms of displays and buttons. Even worse, a person typically interacts with an IoT device when they first turn it on and provision it, rarely during the normal life of the product, and intensely when the battery needs replacing or recharging. For IoT Devices, striking the balance between a complex task like provisioning and an infrequent task like battery replacement is challenging. Avoiding long and complex #LED blink sequences is also advisable. At #KST, we’ve always struggled with these design tradeoffs. Soon, we will be launching a new BLE device where we have an IP67 enclosure that must accept input from a person while giving them helpful feedback. In this product, we’ve opted for an external membrane keyboard with embedded RGB LEDs. The notations are simple to read and international. By forming light pipe lenses that represent familiar shapes, like that of a battery, we can easily communicate basic ideas .Just because you have an inexpensive, ingress protected IoT Device does not mean you need to compromise on user experience. Contact us today to brainstorm how this can be accomplished in your product and to ask about our own experiences building custom, external keyboards with LED indicators.

Slowly building my more customizable Google Home or Apple Home framework that can work with legacy appliances over the local network or internet. Things catered for currently by the framework: • Switches (ON/OFF appliances) • Dimmables (Fan speed adjustment, light brightening) Pending: • Create a multiplatform app with widgets for the framework. • Add support for video calls for camera enabled door bells or intercoms. • Create an API to support custom IoT devices by Developers/Manufacturers over IP which can include appliances, cars, or anything which you can slap an IP on. Harnessing the power of code, the framework controller and arrays will allow for cheaper manufacturing but provide the same functionality as current Smart Things. #IoT #Microcontrollers #Automation Video Date: (2021)
