For those interested in the engine dyno work we've been doing, check out this video demonstrating how backlash in a load control valve for a water brake dyno can cause issues in tuning the PID load control loop. Backlash is something us machinists are well aware of, but most engine builders and dyno operators aren't as aware of the problems it can cause. I hope this short demonstration and explanation can help some folks in the dyno world.
