DID YOU KNOW FASCINATING FACTS ABOUT WHISKEY 1. Whiskey means “water of life”. 2. An incredible one billion bottles of whiskey are produced in Scotland every year, but 90% of it is exported. Scotland has over 120 distilleries. Most of them focus on a single brand of production, or number of brands. They have more than 5,000 versions of single malt whiskies. The annual collective amount produced from the country is over one billion bottles a year, and yet over 90% is exported. 3. Whiskey starts out by being Beer. 4. What is “Angels Share” When whiskey is aged for a long time in oak barrels a certain volume evaporates through the porous wood during that period. This is called “Angel’s Share”. A standard barrel could lose up to 40% of the initial volume placed in it by the time the whiskey is ready for bottling. This increases the price since there is less whiskey per barrel available for sale. 5. Alabama’s Official State Beverage is Whiskey 6. July 27 is National Scotch Day Every year, whiskey from Scotland is celebrated all over the world, National Scotch Day. Get a few different brands, be sure to include your favorite, invite family and friends, purchase a few cigars and have a whiskey flight. https://lnkd.in/dRbYnkrh #veteranE8retired #hartzogandsonswhiskeyhouse #1WhiskeyloungeNC

Our 7th release is from...(drumroll please)...Westward Whiskey What a cask! Limited to just 396 bottles, it's the perfect summertime whiskey - full of juicy passion fruit notes - and is available here: https://lnkd.in/gtsJYhWQ If you’ve not seen Westward Whiskey before, it’s one to add to your radar. Hailing from the American Northwest, an area rich with barley, Westward in Portland, Oregon, crafts an incredibly fruit-forward style of whiskey, and is at the forefront of the American Single Malt Whiskey movement. We always have a bottle of their Pinot Noir cask on our home bar, so picking our Heart Cut cask alongside Miles Munroe, Master Blender, was an absolute dream. As soon as we tasted this cask we knew it was the one. A quick one on American Single Malt Whiskey. In 2016, Westward helped create the American Single Malt Whiskey Commission to establish, promote, and protect the growing category and its legacy. These guidelines are currently waiting for government ratification - in the hope that they become written into law in the not-too-distant future. It's a very exciting and pivotal moment for the category - turning history on its head, craft distillers are setting the rules, and the bigger whiskey companies are following—not the other way around. ONE TO WATCH! Have you tried Westward before? If so, we'd love to know. Cheers! 🥃 #whisky #whiskey #americansinglemaltwhiskey

At Whiskey House of Kentucky, our complete and total focus is on our customers. We aren’t distracted by building our own brands or running a public hospitality program. Whether real or perceived, a conflict of interest exists when a contract manufacturer owns its own brands. How do we know? Because we created and ran a facility that struggled with that challenge on a regular basis. This time around, we’re doing it differently. We’ve removed all friction points between us and our customers. With no brands of our own and a campus closed to the public, Whiskey House is hyper-focused on providing the highest quality custom whiskey production, innovative liquid design, exceptional customer service, and the most competitive pricing for our exclusive branded customers. The manufacturing design, capabilities, and technological infrastructure of Whiskey House is unlike anything in the American Whiskey industry. Creating a customer centric culture isn’t easy. It starts by developing the core principles of the business. It takes time, focus, and dedication. Many start-up businesses lose sight of this in an effort to simply get up and running. Luckily, we aren’t just any start-up. We know just how important it is to focus on building culture from inception. At the end of the day, a distillery is nothing more than metal and fancy equipment; it’s the people who produce great whiskey and service for our partners. That’s why, as a team, we wrote our Mission, Vision, and Values together. These principles form the core of who we are and how we operate. It’s our pleasure to share them with you: Mission Through innovation and collaboration, we create exceptional customized American whiskey that builds sustained brand recognition for our exclusive partners. Vision Recognized as the global leader in transforming the contract American whiskey industry. Values Integrity: We consistently do what’s right, even when it’s not easy. Communication: We listen and share honestly and transparently so all are informed and valued. Partner Focus: We understand the needs of our partners and ensure everything we do adds value. Innovation: We embrace curiosity and creative risk taking to continuously deliver advanced solutions. Do you know, the use of barrel in Bourbon whisky 🥃 can't be reused for aging again and again. According to law, bourbon is a strictly American Native spirit that must be produced only in America. Perhaps, this is the reason everyone believes that real bourbon is made just in Kentucky. I just completed a Whiskey 🥃 traning program in #typsy #Hospitality #whisky #Bourbon #Bourbonproduction #Whiskyfementation #whiskyproduction

Fundraiser by day, podcaster by night (Whiskey Ring Podcast) and owner of Whiskey Ring Productions LLC
A Boot Hill is a burial ground for the unclaimed, the poorest, and those hanged for misdeeds. For some, a Boot Hill was necessary - it got them the first few steps to heaven. And Dodge City, the fabled town of the old west, has the original Boot Hill. Boot Hill Distillery isn't located on top of the hill, exactly (it's quite close), but it is built on those stories. Images of Wyatt Earp and other famous lawmen and outlaws grace their bottles while the whiskies are made with grains grown as close nearby as possible. The brand is, after nearly a decade, still relatively young. Its whiskies are maturing, and its focus on wheat - the staple crop of Kansas - is bearing fruit in what's already out. We go through the founding story, how elements of the old west and the rich history are interwoven into the bourbon, wheat whiskey, and other spirits, and where Boot Hill is going from here. Thanks everyone for listening, and thank you to Lee for entering the Whiskey Ring! _________________________________________________________ Before we jump into the interview just a few quick notes: Ad-free listening is now available to $5/month patrons and above! Sign up or raise your pledge at the link below. The first three WRP barrel picks are in! The Jack Daniel's Barrel Proof Ryes are SOLD OUT, and the Barrell Rye Finished in Armagnac Casks is now live! Patreon members get an exclusive discount for the Jack Daniel's barrels and free shipping for the Barrell pick - now's the time to up that subscription or join the Patreon if you haven't already! Our Spirits of French Lick barrel pick is done! There are now two more spots open in the Barrel Club and 10 spots open at the $15 level for those who want to experience more of the whiskies I get to try every month (or every other month). Join the Patreon now for early access to the barrels! If you haven’t joined the Patreon community yet, please consider doing so! Only 2 Spots Remain in the Barrel Club. Making perfect blended malt whisky is our goal.
"In the world of whisky, the terms for production processes can be quite peculiar, as I've explored in previous blogs. One such term is that of ‘marrying’ whisky. It’s a term for a process that takes place in the blending stage after whiskies have been matured and introduced to each other in the blending vat – a kind of whisky honeymoon, if you will. But why is it important and where does the ‘wood’ aspect come in?" Thank you to the fantastic Emma Gibbs for this piece on the process of "Marrying In Wood" with a special focus on our 25 year old Limited Release, A Quarter Passed. Another one! Glenburgie, up at Kinloss, where the Airbase is. Near Forres. I just bought quite an old bottle of this, as a Single Malt product, for someone, as a present. At it's a Distillery that usually goes into a blend (there are rather a lot of these) you don't get the Distillery owner bottling it, as a 'Single Malt' product. It's always Independent Bottlers who do this. As one of the main Independent Bottlers is now stopping bottling other people's Scotch and is moving into their own Distilleries, will this mean these super-rare Scotch Whiskies will become really valuable? I hope so! Independent Bottlings MIGHT fizzle-out but we have a massive amount of 'stock' (probably 60 million Casks, nobody is prepared to say but due to Duty reasons, they definitely know! ) in Scotland. So, it will take a long time for this Industry to end! For sure, the established Independent Bottlers have found it impossible to buy truly excellent 'Old and Rare' Scotch from what ostensibly are their Competitors now but this won't be the same for (still excellent) Scotch, that's about 10 years old, or less. As it's constantly replenishing, it might never end! The debate goes on, nobody really knows. However, you wouldn't be started your own place, if you were guaranteed an unending supply chain. When you (well, probably just me) think of 10-year-old Scotch, you don't think of a Product distilled in 2012/13, yikes! 21 year old, the 'sweet spot' for Scotch (well I think so!) is now a 21st-Century product! There's A LOT of it! And there's more getting made, every year. The potential Market's vast. Several billion people. #ScotchWhiskyTruths
"A distillery a day" #100 Glenburgie (Speyside) 1810 More likely 1829 when first official record of it was noted. Margaret Nichol is thought to be the first ever woman to manage a whisky distillery in the early 20th Century. You can see where most of it goes by the signage. #whisky #whiskydistillery #glenburgie #speyside #adrianmcmurchie #theglasgowillustrator #scotch #distillery
