The Scottish government is consulting on options for phasing out the use of enriched cages to house laying hens for egg production in Scotland. Three options have been proposed: *A 2030 ban on enriched cage production *A 2030 ban on installing new cages leading to a 2034 ban on enriched cage production *An information campaign to encourage all retailers to commit to stop stocking/selling eggs or egg products from enriched cages by 2034.

What is farming , the production of food, for others to eat, ? The feeding of the masses ? Supplying food for the city dwellers, who are unable to grow their own ? Its all of these things, But we have a Government, who want to stop UK food production, continually cutting back on the amounts of food, we produce, removing more and more land from growing the crops required, cutting back on the amount of livestock to be kept, not supporting home produced, high standard farm production, always willing to support food supply from other countries, countries which will one day, not be able to feed their own population, let alone ours, supports the destruction of UK farmland for other uses, these are the people who should be looking at the long term affects, their policy's will have on future generations, on our population, not just thinking of their party, their term in office their amount of money in the bank, over the last 10 years, I have not only lost confidence in our Government and its schemes, I have lost confidence in its ability to be in control or have any part in what's good for the population as far as food production is concerned, food is a daily necessity, not a luxury, we can do without,

The bill – which provides Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 funding for the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) – totals $25.9 billion, which is 1.35% – or nearly $400 million – below the FY2024 enacted level. The cuts included in the bill would have significant consequences across the US food and farm system – impacting farmers, ranchers, communities, and eaters from coast to coast.
